This Disney Park Isn’t Letting Foreigners Into Media Previews

If you’ve visited Walt Disney World recently, you’ll know how crowded the Parks have been lately. Whether walking along Main Street, U.S.A. or shopping in a Disney store, it can start to feel as if your personal space is constantly being filled.

Lines for a popular ride, such as the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, or other attractions in Magic Kingdom are almost always full.

But on the other side of the world, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have lowered Park capacity by as much as 20% in order to give their Guests a better experience. That’s not the only thing the Disney Resort has done differently.

Tokyo Disneyland has even offered special discounts for vaccinated Guests, something no other Disney Resort has done. It goes to show how seriously Japan has taken the COVID-19 pandemic.

So much so that years after the pandemic began, the country has slowly started opening its borders, giving Guests a chance to visit Tokyo Disney Resort again.

However, despite the number of foreign visitors who would like to visit a Tokyo Disneyland Theme Park, it seems that The Oriental Land Company is particular about who their theme Parks are marketed towards (The Walt Disney Company doesn’t operate either of the Tokyo Disney Resorts, The Oriental Land Company does).

In one particular example, an American influencer living in Tokyo tried to obtain entry to a media preview event at Tokyo Disney Resort but was denied access. Spencer (@TDRPlans on Twitter) shares in his tweet:

Although foreign tourists can visit Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea again, media events are still restricted to residents of Japan.

Even more confusing, Spencer notes that he had been able to gain access to similar events prior to the pandemic in his Tweet:

As of right now, neither Tokyo Disney Resort nor The Oriental Land Company have made any official statements about the situation.
