This morning we shared an update out of Walt Disney World that select experiences would close later this week due to subtropical storm Nicole’s arrival in Central Florida.
Within the past hour, however, (roughly since 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2022), Walt Disney World has once again updated its severe weather waning. The latest update removes the previously announced closures and adds some new ones.

This morning, Disney’s official website initially shared:
For the safety of our Guests and Cast Members, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and the Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be closed Wednesday, November 9 through Friday, November 11. We are contacting Guests with current and upcoming reservations impacted by this change.
Guests may reschedule their trip or cancel their stay with us; any cancellation fees will be waived.
Performances of Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue have been cancelled for Wednesday, November 9 through Friday, November 11 in light of the temporary closure of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Guests with pre-paid reservations will be automatically cancelled and refunded.

Since then, the website has been updated to remove the above information and reflect closures only at the Resort’s water park and mini golf experiences. The current advisory out of Walt Disney World reads:
Walt Disney World Theme Parks are currently operating under normal conditions. Please continue to monitor news outlets for the latest weather information.
Walt Disney World Water Parks and Miniature Golf locations are temporarily closed on Thursday, November 10:
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park (Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is currently closed for the season.)
Winter Summerland Miniature Golf
Fantasia Gardens
Fairways Miniature Golf
Whether or not Disney’s initially announcement was updated prematurely or simply in error will remain to be seen until the storm makes landfall on Florida. For now, if you have a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort coming up this week, we recommend confirming cancellation policies with all of your travel arrangements, and checking Disney’s website (and the My Disney Experience app) as you near your arrival date.
Disney Cruise Line has also announced modifications to affected sailings (they should be in your email if you are booked on a cruise this week). If a cruise was in your initial plans, remember that shore excursions only follow Disney’s cancellation policy when they are booked through Disney. Third party bookings may be subject to different policies.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for several Florida counties, including Orange County where Walt Disney World is located. Whether you are local or visiting the Parks on vacation, be sure to take any recommended precautions to stay safe during the storm.
We will continue to monitor Disney’s response to the subtropical storm Nicole and will be back with additional updates as we have them here on Disney Tips.
