Incoming Subtropical Storm Halts Park Reservations at Walt Disney World Resort

By now, you’ve probably heard of a potential tropical storm heading toward Florida, possibly stopping operations at Walt Disney World. However, the situation has quickly progressed since the National Hurricane Center first pointed it out.

According to a report made by the Orlando Sentinel, Subtropical Storm Nicole has formed. She has even begun transitioning into a tropical storm with the potential to turn into a Category 1 hurricane.

As a result, several Walt Disney World Resort hotels have announced some closures in order to prepare for the oncoming storm. Not only that but theme Park reservations have been blocked for dates later this week.

These block-out dates apply to Annual Passholders, Resort Guests, and day ticket Guests, implying that Disney World may expect closure.

Even so, Disney World’s official website confirms that theme parks are still operating normally at this time, meaning that Guests with existing passes can still visit.

That being said, the situation surrounding Subtropical Storm Nicole can quickly change, so it’s essential to keep up with the latest news.

According to forecasters, Nicole is expected to “be near or at hurricane strength” by Wednesday. While it is unsure exactly what path Subtropical Storm Nicole will take or how big it will be, we currently know that it’s approaching Florida’s East coast. The National Hurricane Center states,

Do not focus on the exact track of Nicole since it is expected to be a large storm with hazards extending well to the north of the center, outside of the forecast cone […] These hazards are likely to affect much of the Florida peninsula and portions of the southeast U.S.
