EPCOT is currently undergoing its largest transformation to date, bringing with it new attractions like Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, a new festival center, and so much more.
The Disney Park has already opened its latest thrill ride with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, along with the new Creations Shop and Connections Cafe & Eatery. While construction on Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is moving along steadily, it looks like the next piece of EPCOT’s transformation to open may be the new statue of Walt Disney.

The new statue, titled “Walt the Dreamer” was announced at least year’s Destination D23 event as one of the new elements coming to EPCOT during its renovation project. It was last seen this September at the 2022 D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center (pictured above) where fans had the opportunity to pose for photos with the figure before its move to EPCOT.
While Disney has not yet shared when Guests will see the statue in its soon-to-be-permanent location behind Spaceship Earth, we can confirm that “Walt the Dreamer” has arrived at Walt Disney World. The statue was recently spotted at the Walt Disney Legacy Award Celebration which took place for Cast Members being honored at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
You can watch a recap of the festivities and see the statue at the Resort in this video shared by the Disney Parks Blog:

Imagineers designed “Walt the Dreamer” to be the focal point of a brand new area called Dreamers Point, which will be located behind Spaceship Earth as Guests make their way toward World Showcase (or before they turn to either World Discovery or World Celebration.)
The inspiration for the statue is of course dreams, and the Disney Parks Blog notes that Imagineers hope “Walt the Dreamer” will “inspire guests as he gazes out at EPCOT, encouraging everyone to follow their dreams right along with him.”
