Refurbishments Announced For Some of EPCOT’s Most Unique Experiences

EPCOT is packed with exciting attractions, shops, and restaurants offering something for nearly every age, taste, and budget. While many Guests focus much of the day on exploring the pavilions representing the 11 countries of World Showcase, there are exciting experiences to be had in World Nature, World Celebration, and World Discovery, too.

In World Nature, Guests can learn about everything from “Living With the Land,” via a boat ride through various agricultural facilities to the ocean world with close-up looks at unique wildlife like dolphins, sea horses, manatees, and more.

It’s not just attractions like The Seas With Nemo & Friends and Turtle Talk With Crush that give Guests additional insight into the creatures that live in our oceans though these two attractions do focus on characters from the beloved Disney and Pixar film, Finding Nemo (2003).

The Seas With Nemo & Friends pavilion also hosts some of the most unique backstage tours at Walt Disney World, and with two of these experiences set to undergo multi-month refurbishments in 2023, we wanted to put them on your radar so you can plan your trip around the upcoming maintenance schedule.

Both Dolphins in Depth and DiveQuest will be undergoing refurbishments in the New Year, with both experiences unavailable to Guests from January 13, 2023 through mid-March 2023. Both refurbishments are currently noted on Disney’s official website.

EPCOT Seas Adventure Dolphins in Depth is a two-hour backstage experience that allows Guests a closer look at the dolphins who reside at this Disney Park. During the tour, Guests will learn about these amazing creatures from animal experts, and hear about how Disney cares for these creatures both backstage in EPCOT and through supporting conservation efforts to help dolphins in the wild. Of course, the highlight for many Guests who participate is stepping into the water (only about waist-deep) to interact with the dolphins first-hand.

For Guests who are already SCUBA-certified, EPCOT Seas Adventure DiveQuest gives visitors to The Seas With Nemo & Friends the chance to explore the 5.7-million-gallon-saltwater aquarium for themselves, swimming alongside over 2,000 unique animals like sea turtles, stingrays, reef fish, sharks, and more. Along with the dive, Guests on this exclusive backstage experience are also given a look into how Disney cares for these creatures, and their friends and family can even watch from viewing areas in the aquarium.

While DiveQuest and Dolphins in Depth are both undergoing refurbishments next year, the rest of The Seas With Nemo & Friends pavilion will remain open to Guests. And, where Disney has not announced any changes to these experiences, we believe these refurbishments will just be for routine maintenance.

Disney has not yet confirmed the return date for these experiences other than “mid-March,” but we will continue to monitor any updates out of The Seas With Nemo & Friends and will report back as we know more here on Disney Tips.
