Organized and run by The Propstore based in Los Angeles, the auction will include Star Lord’s helmet from the first Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Harry Potter’s Hogwarts uniform from The Chamber of Secrets (2002), and Rose DeWitt Bukater’s dress from Titanic (1997).

However, the one item gathering the most attention is Princess Leia’s gown featured in the original Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977). It is the ceremonial piece she wears at the film’s finale when presenting medals to Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. The gown has been authenticated and is the only existing Princess Leia costume from the original movie. It is made of cream silk fabric and features a side zipper, and a hook and eye closure.

Each of these items is expected to reach prices as high as into the millions. The Princess Leia gown alone is expected to fetch as much as $2 million and the helmet worn by Chris Pratt in Guardians of the Galaxy is estimated to earn up to $200,000.

Other items included as part of the auction are a Batpod from The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2011), which is expected to go for up to $2 million as well. The Batpod is one of six created for the films, but this version is not drivable as its battery, fuel tank, and throttle controls have been removed.

About Steven Wilk

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
