With the closure of Muppets Courtyard, Disney is setting the stage for an exciting transformation. Plans are underway to create a brand new land inspired by Pixar’s classic film, Monsters, Inc. Dubbed Monstropolis, this new area will immerse visitors in the visually appealing and whimsical world of monsters. The anticipation surrounding the new land has many guests buzzing with excitement about the attractions and experiences that await them.

Expected attractions in Monstropolis include interactive experiences that invite guests to engage with popular characters like Mike Wazowski and Sulley. Imaginative themed dining options will also enhance the immersive experience, allowing visitors to eat in an environment that echoes the charm of the film. Although specific completion dates for Monstropolis have yet to be disclosed, it’s clear that Disney is committed to creating a vibrant new area that caters to a wide array of guests.

As construction begins, one of the most notable changes involves the removal of the Miss Piggy statue and fountain. Once a cherished centerpiece of Muppets Courtyard, her absence signals the significant shift in the theme of this area.
Additionally, modifications within Muppets Courtyard include the transition of the former gift shop, Studio 1 Company Store, to make way for the anticipated new attractions in Monstropolis.

Dining options, which included Mama Melrose Ristorante Italiano and PizzeRizzo, will also undergo alterations. Although PizzeRizzo has seen only minor changes, the future of dining in the park will undoubtedly reflect the new theme by incorporating elements from the Monsters, Inc. franchise. The focus on fresh experiences, however, may leave some nostalgic diners missing the familiar offerings they’ve cherished over the years.

Despite the notable changes and the farewell to Muppets Courtyard, the Muppets will continue to have a presence in Disney World, albeit in a new context. Exciting news recently surfaced about Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and Fozzie Bear transitioning to take over the iconic Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster ride. This ride, which has long been associated with the legendary rock band Aerosmith, is set for a Muppet makeover that promises to bring even more fun and comedy to the experience.

Disney has yet to announce specific timelines for the Muppets-themed transformation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, but the excitement is palpable. Guests can look forward to an enriching blend of exhilarating coaster elements with the beloved charm of the Muppets, providing a delightful experience that ties in well with the humor and antics that fans have come to expect.

About Luke Dammann

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"
