On D-Day, he had helped transport replacement troops to Normandy Beach. McCroskey had transported personal supplies worldwide during this time and visited many seaports. This includes ports in Africa and Asia.

Walt Disney World officials had shared that McCroskey served until the end of the war and then returned home to his wife and started a family.

When Walt Disney World found out he would celebrate his birthday at Disney, Cast Members and fellow WWII veterans held a special ceremony for him.

McCroskey said “That was just a beautiful feeling. A beautiful feeling.”

McCroskey was presented with a shadow box containing the flag that was flown above the Magic Kingdom on his Day of Honor.

It is so beautiful that he could have his 100th birthday with his family, friends, and others who honor and celebrate him. It’s wonderful when Walt Disney World sees Veterans’ importance and does everything they can to make their big day special.

Happy Birthday William McCroskey! We hope you had the most magical day and are glad that we can share how incredible you are with others.
