Disneyland Resort is gearing up for its monumental 70th anniversary celebrations, and construction has officially begun. Crews have started building a new Sleeping Beauty Castle sculpture as part of the celebrations, which begin in just a few weeks.
While Disneyland Park’s official anniversary isn’t until July 15, 2025, the festivities will kick off on May 16 and continue through the summer of 2026. Disney Park guests can look forward to a variety of new and returning entertainment, exclusive food and beverage offerings, special themed merchandise, and decorations across both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.
The 70th anniversary celebrations will bring new experiences to Disneyland Park, including the “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade,” featuring Duffy, ShellieMay, and their friends, as well as the “Tapestry of Happiness” projection show on “it’s a small world.” The Fantasyland ride will also debut a final verse written by the late Sherman brothers, along with new Coco (2017)-inspired dolls. Returning entertainment will include the Wondrous Journeys fireworks show and the Paint the Night electrical parade.
At Disney California Adventure Park, a new interactive nighttime show, “World of Color – Happiness,” will debut, while Toy Story Midway Mania! will receive some Disneyland70-themed updates. The “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” Parade will also make a return.
In addition to these entertainment updates, the Southern California Disney parks will come to life with new, 70th-anniversary-inspired decorations. Much like it has for past anniversaries and holiday events, Sleeping Beauty Castle will undergo a transformation, receiving themed decorations. However, this time, there will be something even more special: a tribute sculpture celebrating Disneyland Resort’s most iconic structure.
Construction walls have now appeared in the esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, marking the start of the Sleeping Beauty Castle sculpture project. According to WDWNT, these walls are blocking most of the view of the work–but not all.
Three large yellow curved supports have been erected, rising from a hidden base. These supports will eventually connect to form a 50-foot sculpture of Sleeping Beauty Castle. The finished display will include colorful glass panels and golden charms celebrating Disneyland Resort’s incredible history.
