Even celebrities aren’t immune to The Happiest Place on Earth’s strict rules. Scrubs star Donald Faison recently shared a wild story about how he and a friend were banned from Disneyland Resort after a surprising encounter with Pluto.

Faison, best known for playing Dr. Chris Turk on Scrubs, co-hosts the podcast “Fake Doctors, Real Friends” with his former co-star Zach Braff. In a recent episode, Faison recounts the time when he and his friend Kevin Jordan got into trouble at Disneyland Resort.

During Scrubs heyday, Faison frequently visited Disneyland Resort, sometimes as often as twice a month. On one particular trip, Jordan expressed that meeting Pluto was a lifelong dream.

“No matter what, I gotta take a picture with Pluto,” Jordan told Faison.

Faison, using his Disney connections, made it happen. Cast members arranged a private meet-and-greet with Pluto, and a Disney PhotoPass photographer was there to capture the moment.

A Ban-Worthy Mistake

But things quickly took a turn when Jordan, overwhelmed with excitement, picked Pluto up off the ground. Disneyland Resort security was not happy.

“They came out of nowhere, scrambling,” Faison recalled.

What started as a fun moment soon became a problem. Faison snapped a picture of the incident moments before Disneyland security intervened, and both he and Jordan were promptly banned from the park.

“I wasn’t allowed back into Disneyland for over a year because of this s***,” Faison admitted.

Disneyland’s Strict Character Interaction Rules

While this may seem like an innocent mistake, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort have strict policies regarding character interactions. Guests are expected to respect characters’ personal space, follow Disney cast members’ instructions, and—most importantly—not pick them up.

Zach Braff summed it up perfectly: “Don’t pick up Pluto.”

Faison has since been allowed back at Disneyland Resort, but his story serves as a reminder that even celebrities have to play by the rules.
