Best Spot To Avoid the Crowds at Magic Kingdom Without Missing the Entertainment
Grabbing some much-needed downtime at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom can be tricky, especially during the days when the park is particularly crowded.
Sure, there are plenty of ways for you to get some respite between hopping on attractions such as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, “it’s a small world,” and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin — which can be draining on both body and mind — but finding the right spot can be incredibly challenging.

The more familiar you are with the layout of Magic Kingdom, the better chance you have at finding somewhere you can dodge the mostly endless hustle and bustle for an hour or so.
While escaping the crowds anywhere at Disney World is nothing short of a tall order, doing so while still being able to enjoy some light entertainment means you aren’t missing the action.
There are many ways to do this, of course, and the first thing guests will usually think of along these lines will be sit-down performances such as The Country Bear Musical Jamboree, The Hall of Presidents, or Mickey’s PhilharMagic. And why not? Each offers comfortable seating in crisp, cool air conditioning.

The trouble is, if you’re hoping to catch your break while also grabbing something to eat, these performances don’t exactly offer any food or drinks.
Enter Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café — the quick-service restaurant at Tomorrowland. It’s not particularly fancy, but if you want to enjoy lunch, dinner, or a quick snack without skipping the entertainment, you’ll be thrilled to know that the Planet Zork-born alien resident Sonny Eclipse will be on stage belting out jazz hits on his astro-organ such as “Yew Nork, Yew Nork” and “Planetary Boogie” on continuous loop lasting about 25 minutes.
Obviously, we can’t guarantee that Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café will ever be quiet, or that the impressive Audio-Animatronic alien will even be playing (some guests have been disappointed to find that he’s been out of action from time to time), but if you’re looking for a bite to eat while also relaxing to some light-hearted entertainment filled with galactic-themed dad jokes, it’s definitely one of your best bets.
