It’s always fun to bring home a piece of magic from your trip, and there are thousands of souvenirs for kids to choose from. Based on my own experience and observations, there are several ideas which are always a big hit with kids of all ages.

11. Pins

Pins are sold pretty much everywhere in Walt Disney World, and the largest selection is Disney’s Pin Traders in Disney Springs. It’s very popular to wear your pins on a lanyard around your neck and trade with other people, as well as cast members. If you’re not interesting in the trading aspect, buying a pin and just keeping it as a memento is a terrific way to remember your child’s favorite attraction or character.

10. Superimposed Digital Photos

Choose a background from a large selection, then your child gets their picture taken in front of a green screen. The picture is then perfectly inserted in the background. Whether the child wants to soar on a magic carpet with Aladdin, be transported into a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean, or transform into a Jedi, this is really fun experience.

9. Build Your Own Star Wars Light Saber or Droid

A fantastic idea for young Star Wars fans is to choose from a number of unique parts and build a customized light saber or droid. This is available at Tatooine Traders in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and also Once Upon A Toy in Disney Springs.

8. Painted Parasols

The China Pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase sells brightly-colored parasols to keep out the sun or just to twirl around. A cast member will write your child’s name on it in Chinese characters to make it an extra special souvenir.

7. Epcot Passport

A great way to keep children interested in Epcot’s World Showcase is to purchase a Passport. You can find them at MouseGear and several other locations in Epcot, and it comes with stickers to use on the appropriate country’s page. As you walk through the World Showcase, find the Kidcot station in each country and your child can get each passport page stamped, along with the time and date they visited. The cast members will usually include a short message in their own language. This makes a great keepsake to look through after your trip is over.

6. Photograph Album

I think one of the best souvenirs from a Walt Disney World trip is photos of the memories that were made. A great way for kids to display them is a Disney-themed album. There are lots of styles to choose from and many have the year on the cover.

5. Pressed Pennies

Truly one of the least expensive souvenirs in all of Walt Disney World, pressed coin machines are everywhere and are a lot of fun to collect. The total cost per coin is 51 cents, and books to display the coins are available for sale as well. There are pressed coin machines for most of the attractions, many of the restaurants and resorts, and of all the characters as well.

4. Cup with Light

Many of the restaurants offer a souvenir cup for children filled with their drink of choice, and the cup is presented with a Buzz Lightyear or Tinkerbell figure that clips onto the side of the cup and lights up. The drinks sometimes come with glowing ice cubes.

3. Popcorn Buckets

Popcorn from Walt Disney World is a treat that’s hard to resist. It’s fun for kids to order the popcorn in one of the larger-sized buckets that are decorated for each park. The bucket can be re-used to collect loose change, store action figures or toys, school supplies, or any number of other uses.

2. Avatar Action Figure / Robotic Banshee

Visit Windtraders in Animal Kingdom to create your own Avatar Action Figure! Your image (our your child’s) will be taken and transformed into an Avatar Action Figure you can take home with you. Plus, you can also purchase a robotic Banshee (flying dragon-like figure) that will interact with you. Perch it on your shoulder and show it off to your friends and family. Pretty awesome stuff that will provide a memorable souvenir to take home for any child!

1. Mickey Ears

The most classic of all Disney souvenirs is a set of Mickey Ears. Available in many different styles, characters, and for all kinds of occasions, Mickey Ears are a perennial favorite. Once they are put on top on a child’s head, a smile automatically follows. Ears can be embroidered with your name in select locations, but depending on how busy the store is, it’s a good idea to place your order and pick the ears up later.

About Melissa Fegely

I have been a professional writer for over 18 years with degrees in Biology and English. I am a lifelong Disney fan and a Disney Vacation Club member of over nine years. Having visited Walt Disney World several times growing up, I really caught the Disney bug after many trips with my husband. Now I am happily addicted to taking our son to Walt Disney World as often as possible and watching him experience the magic and Mickey Bars as he grows up. Traveling to Walt Disney World twice a year, I enjoy attending the Flower and Garden festival held in the spring and strolling around the World Showcase, as well as exploring all of the hidden gems that all four parks have to offer. I love helping my family and friends plan their next Disney trips based on my experiences. I also enjoy reading, swimming, traveling, and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I grew up in Southwestern Pennsylvania, attended Shippensburg University, and current live in suburban Philadelphia with my husband, son, and two cats.
