The Walt Disney World Resort typically functions on annual refurbishment schedules for major updates, including its two water parks, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

Each Park usually closes during the off-season for a brief refurbishment while the other remains open, however the complete closure of Walt Disney World at the onset of the pandemic disrupted this schedule, and now as the off-season once again approaches, Guests are still waiting to hear when Blizzard Beach will reopen.

With no official update from Disney so far, the latest aerial photo of the water park shows progress over previous updates. Earlier this year, construction was spotted on Teamboat Springs, the Park’s family raft ride, but the latest view from above seems to indicate that this work has been completed.

Along with the Teamboat Springs update, aeriel photography captured by Twitter user @bioreconstruct shows that the crane at the construction site has now been removed, and a new return station for inner tubes has been added to Runoff Rapids:

The off-season for Disney’s water parks has just about arrived, as Typhoon Lagoon has already closed due to low temperatures for two days this fall. If you are able to tolerate the cooler temps (and assuming the Park stays open) this time of year can actually be great time to visit a Disney water park as crowds can be significantly lighter.

Disney has not yet confirmed a reopening date for Blizzard Beach (nor has the company noted when Typhoon Lagoon will close once again for a refurbishment) but we will continue to monitor updates on the Park and will be back here with all the latest on Disney Tips.
