With the Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival series in development, longtime fans of the original TV series are excited to see what the cast and crew can bring to the Buffyverse.

Skeleton Crew‘s Ryan Kiera Armstrong will be leading the charge as the new slayer, while Sarah Michelle Gellar will reprise her role as the original slayer, Buffy Summers.

Variety has now reported that five new actors have been added: Faly Rakotohavana (Secret Society of Second Born Royals) as Hugo, Ava Jean (Law & Order: SVU) as Larkin, Sarah Bock (Severance) as Gracie, Daniel di Tomasso (Witches of East End) as Abe, and Jack Cutmore-Scott (Oppenheimer) as Mr. Burke.

Gellar is also onboard as an EP alongside Dolly Parton, returning under her Sandollar banner like she did with the original series, and Chloé Zhao (Nomadland), who’s attached to direct the pilot. Sisters Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Poker Face) are penning the script.

Disney Is Relaunching the Buffy and Angel Comic Books

Now, in another exciting development for the franchise, Disney has quietly moved the Buffy and Angel comics over to Dynamite Publishing.

The comics have been running under different publications since 1998, with the ones from Dark Horse Comics (which moved over to BOOM! in 2019) still considered canon with the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series and the spinoff series, Angel (1999-2004).

The Buffyverse Could Continue To Expand

So, it seems the Buffyverse is already expanding. A new series on its way, and now, two new comic book runs. What might be next for the franchise? An animated series and a new video game? Could an attraction be on the horizon for Disney Parks?

Though it remains to be seen how the upcoming Buffy revival and the new comic books land with audiences, they could pave the way for a Buffy-themed attraction. Fans who have watched Buffy and her gang battle supernatural forces for over two decades, could finally get the chance to see the action up, close, and personal in a theme park attraction or experience.

There’s no release date for the Buffy revival or the new comic books.
