Disney Tips Your Guide To A Great Disney Vacation
Looks like a certain mischievous purple dragon may have been up to, well, mischief. Guests visiting EPCOT recently spotted a burst pipe on top of the building that houses the Journey Into Imagination With Figment.
The incident was seen outside of the attraction at about 10:30 a.m. today, August 23, 2022. Twitter user Luke Bouma was in the area and captured a video of water spraying from the Imagination Pavilion building. Take a look at the video below:

It is unclear where exactly the burst pipe is located as it is behind the Guest-facing areas of the building, but it is likely on the other side of the gift shop that Guests exit through after riding the attraction. The building houses the Journey IntoImagination With Figment ride, along with the attraction’s entire queue, the Imageworks interactive activity space, gift shop, and a lounge at the top of the pyramid that is exclusive to members of Disney Vacation Club.
Over the years, Guests have pointed out the need for maintenance on the attraction, both in routine work and in restoring the ride to its original (better) state featuring Figment alongside the Dreamfinder.
Inside the attraction, as it currently operates, some have noticed some visible signs of wear and tear. One example of this is the screens in the beginning of the attraction that set the stage for what is to come as Guests prepare for their tours through the Imagination Institute:

The attraction originally opened in 1983, when Guests were first introduced to Figment, Dreamfinder, and the hit Disney Parks song, “One Little Spark,” but the current version of the ride has been operating in EPCOT since 2002.
Disney’s official description of Journey Into Imagination With Figment reads:
The Institute’s beleaguered chairman Dr. Nigel Channing (played by Eric Idle) sets out to prove how the 5 senses capture the imagination—but he’s upstaged by the mischievous Figment!
Prepare for surprises galore as you travel through a series of vivid, whimsical sensory labs. Learn about all 5 senses as Figment turns the lab upside down and causes quite a stink in the Smell Lab.
Let your imagination run wild on this marvelous, madcap musical adventure!
Some Disney fans have speculated that a refurbishment of the pavilion and/or the attraction will be announced at this year’s D23 Expo ahead of the 40th anniversary of EPCOT, but Disney has not confirmed any information on the validity of these guesses.
