It is no secret Disneyland has been undergoing some changes. One of the best yet worst parts of Disney Parks is all the new and exciting attractions always coming. But a new attraction often means the closing of an old one.
On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, Disney closed the doors on one of their most iconic rides. Splash Mountain held its last trip into the briar patch with stany by times as long as 65 minutes. Now that the memorable ride is closed, renovations have begun, and the construction walls have gone up.

Splash Mountain’s closing ended a chapter but gave a chance to a new chapter. The ride is now being reimagined into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, inspired by the film ‘Princess and the Frog’ (2009). While Imagineers have been hard at work with the transformation, some parts of Splash Mountain can still be seen by Guests. Or they were able to be seen.
The blue skies and sunshine of Frontierland at @WaltDisneyWorld are looking a bit more regal this morning! 👑☀️ Overnight, Disney Imagineers installed the tiara-topped water tower that will be the centerpiece for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure when the attraction opens in 2024. 💜💚💛 pic.twitter.com/uCIZa3VCWh

Out With the Old, in With the New
With the new tower standing tall, what is left of Splash Mountain? It seems that a significant update has occurred following the tiara-topped water tower. According to Inside the Magic, Br’er Rabbit has finally been removed from Disneyland. They included this tweet as proof because we Guests need to know it’s genuinely goodbye, forever.

Br’er Rabbit has officially been given the boot. Although Disneyland and Walt Disney World have removed their Splash Mountain attraction, there is still one left standing. For those die-hard Splash Mountain lovers, fans can still enjoy the ride at Tokyo Disneyland.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
The exciting new attraction is set to open sometime in 2024. Guests can look forward to a familiar ride through the bayou but with different characters, a new theme, and new music. Inspired by the “heart and culture of New Orleans,” Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be a one-of-a-kind celebration with thrilling drops, picking up where Tiana’s story left off in the hit film.
