Earlier this year, Disney confirmed that the beloved 3-D show Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Magic Kingdom would temporarily close on November 1, 2025, for a routine refurbishment. The attraction, which first opened in 2003 and replaced The Legend of the Lion King in Fantasyland Theatre, has been a quietly magical staple ever since.

For years, guests have enjoyed following Donald Duck as he borrows Mickey’s sorcerer’s hat and is whisked through classic moments from Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Peter Pan. What really makes the show resonate–beyond the animation and 3-D glasses–is the immersive sense of nostalgia, thanks to effects like the scent of apple pie during the “Be Our Guest” sequence. In 2021, it even received a refresh for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, adding a Coco segment with “Un Poco Loco.”

The announced closure was expected to last about three weeks, with a planned reopening on November 23, just ahead of the busy Thanksgiving period. During the downtime, Disney reportedly planned to replace the theatre seats.

This refurbishment comes amid a broader wave of maintenance activity across the resort: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is undergoing a significant overhaul of its track and effects, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been closed since August while it receives new ride vehicles, laser blasters, and even a new character, “Buddy.”

Now, here’s some exciting news: Disney surprised fans by reopening Mickey’s PhilharMagic early, on November 18, six days ahead of schedule. Reports indicate that there are no notable changes at the PhilharMagic location, and it is worth noting that the official Walt Disney World Resort website still lists the attraction as having “no times available” for the immediate future.

If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom in mid-November, that early reopening is a welcome bonus, and any maintenance updates may mean a more enjoyable experience for guests. Keep an eye on park schedules, but for now, the curtain’s back up, and the music is ready to play.

About Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
