The Walt Disney Company has been in the midst of celebration several exciting milestones over the past year, and with that comes new attractions, restaurants, shops, and more for Disney Parks.
The Walt Disney World Resort recently wrapped up its 50th-anniversary celebration on March 31, 2023, and opened its newest attraction, TRON Lightcycle / Run in the Magic Kingdom. In EPCOT, Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, is set to open later this year, while Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently welcomed Toy Story Land’s first table-service restaurant. And lots of new experiences are in store this month for the 25th anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

In recent years, we have seen more experiences arrive at Disney Parks inspired by characters and stories from Pixar films, with familiar faces from The Incredibles (2004) returning for character meet and greets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios earlier this year.
One of Pixar’s most beloved films, Coco (2017), has been seriously underutilized at Disney Parks. While we have been seeing more from the film recently, new Coco experiences have come primarily in the form of characters. At Disneyland, Ernesto de la Cruz was featured at last year’s Oogie Boogie Bash event, and in the Magic Kingdom, Guests can spot Miguel in the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade. Scenes featuring Coco have also been added to Mickey’s PhilharMagic.
We also learned about some potential “blue sky” ideas at last year’s D23 Expo, in which the possibility of Coco being featured in the land that lies beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in the Magic Kingdom was brought up, but nothing of this nature has been confirmed as of this writing.

Overseas, as another anniversary wraps up, one Disney Park has just announced that a new Coco restaurant is in the works.
Disneyland Paris, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary (and turned 31 yesterday, April 12, 2023), has several new concepts in the works for this year, one of which being a Coco-inspired restaurant in Frontierland. (Check out the concept art for the new location below!)
According to the Disney Parks Blog, the Park’s current Mexican restaurant, Fuente Del Oro will be reimagined into Casa de Coco – Restaurante de Familia with a special focus on Miguel’s love for both music and his family.
Disney’s announcement also shared that a new room inspired by Luca (2021) is in the works at Pizzeria Bella Notte at Disneyland Paris, and that several new Pixar updates will be coming to Toon Plaza at the Walt Disney Studios Park.
No opening date has been confirmed for either dining location as of this writing, but we expect them to open in summer 2023.
