Most of the Walt Disney World Resort has returned to “normal,” and some of the latest news out of the Orlando Parks and Resorts have even taken this a step further by reinstating amenities that were removed years before the pandemic changed things.
Health and safety restrictions (like physical distancing and mask requirements) put in place during the pandemic have long been removed at Walt Disney World, but several experiences and amenities have been slow to return more due to staffing challenges that have left a lasting impact from the pandemic.

During the pandemic, housekeeping became one of the roles with the biggest changes for travelers as safety precautions often kept employees from entering Guests hotel rooms unless absolutely necessary. As restrictions changed, this role continued to be among the hardest hit staffing challenges, leaving Resorts at Disney World and across the country without daily housekeeping as a Guest amenity.
According to recent reports, however, this is about to change at Walt Disney World, with daily housekeeping returning to select hotels beginning today, January 15, 2023. The hotels included in the expected initial rollout for daily housekeeping are Disney Deluxe Resorts while Moderate and Value Resorts will receive services every other day.

While Guests can always use their phone in their hotel rooms or visit the front desk to request things like additional towels and trash removal, the full housekeeping services will include everything that had previously been done in the past at Walt Disney World while Guests are out of the room including making beds, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, replacing used towels with clean ones, and emptying trash and recycling. (Per Disney’s sustainability efforts, sheets are changed upon request.)
For select other accommodations around Walt Disney World, housekeeping amenities will remain unchanged (such as Disney Vacation Club accommodations, where services go by length of stay requirements and not the status of the Resort.)

Guests can still choose to skip daily housekeeping services if they prefer by hanging the sign on their hotel room door, however, we should note that any incentives offered for doing so in the past are not available at this time (including past gift card offers for declining housekeeping, for example.)
We expect daily housekeeping to return to all Disney Resorts, but have been unable to confirm a time frame so far on when we will see these services return to Moderate and Value Resorts. We will continue to monitor updates on Walt Disney World accommodations, and will be back with more information as we have it here on Disney Tips.
