Disney Is Celebrating Another Major Milestone

Disney is no stranger to special anniversaries. Having just wrapped up the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, the company now readies itself for yet another special event.

In July of 1998 (about three months after Animal Kingdom opened…for those keeping track), the Disney company also embarked on a new business venture: launching a cruise line. At that point, however, Disney was already familiar with the cruise industry. In fact, they had spent years working with Premier Cruise Line to provide Disney-themed cruise experiences from 1985-1993. Since the first voyage 25 years ago, Disney Cruise Line has built a loyal fan base of both Disney fans and cruise lovers by providing truly unique experiences such as trips to their own private island, Castaway Cay.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Disney Magic‘s first voyage, Disney Cruise Line is not holding back. For starters, they are introducing Captains Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in shimmering outfits and a special night of additional fireworks at sea.

The cruise line is also debuting limited-time Silver Anniversary At Sea desserts and cocktails, as well as a vast assortment of themed merchandise. This summer, there will also be a new tier added to Castaway Club members who have sailed 25 times or more with Disney.

The anniversary-based offerings will be available only for a few short months the summer or 2023. Currently, the celebration is limited to:

Disney Magic (May 24th-September 4th)
Sailings to The Bahamas from Port Canaveral, Florida

Disney Wish (May 1st-September 8th)
Sailings to The Bahamas and the Caribbean from Miami, Florida

Disney Fantasy (May 6th-September 2nd)
Sailings to the Caribbean from Port Canaveral, Florida

Disney Dream (May 7th-September 17th)
Sailings on Transatlantic and European cruises from Southampton, England; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy; Barcelona, Spain and Miami, Florida

Disney Wonder (May 15th-September 11th)
Sailing to Alaska from Vancouver, British Columbia

As always, each Disney cruise includes first-class entertainment, gourmet meals, and once-in-a-lifetime memories that can’t be found on any other cruise line.

About Steven Wilk

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
