Disney Confirms Hotel Room Transformations as Minnie Mouse Takes Over in January

Minnie Mouse is inspiring temporary Disney hotel room makeovers.

Disney’s resort hotels have undergone significant changes in recent years. At Walt Disney World, Disney’s Contemporary Resort introduced The Incredibles (2004) theming in 2021, while Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort incorporated elements of Moana (2016) into its guest rooms.

Elsewhere, Disneyland Paris reopened its flagship Disneyland Hotel in 2024 following a two-year transformation. The property now features rooms and suites inspired by Disney royalty, with references to Frozen (2013), Sleeping Beauty (1959), Beauty and the Beast (1991), and other animated classics.

Not every change has been welcomed by guests. Some Disney fans have criticized the removal of distinctive hotel designs in favor of recognizable characters, with certain renovated rooms even drawing comparisons to a Marriott or a “hospital room.”

However, Disney’s latest hotel transformation will follow a different approach, with an existing room design receiving a temporary makeover for a seasonal celebration.

Disney Announces January Hotel Room Changes

Tokyo Disneyland Hotel has confirmed that select rooms will be transformed into Minnie Mouse-themed accommodations starting January 12, 2027.

The changes will affect the hotel’s Superior Alcove Rooms, which normally feature elegant furnishings and subtle Disney details. Unlike the permanent transformations seen at other properties, the Minnie Mouse designs will only be available through March 31, 2027.

The hotel already offers several dedicated character rooms, including designs inspired by Cinderella (1950), Beauty and the Beast (1991), Alice in Wonderland (1951), and Tinker Bell from Peter Pan (1953).

The upcoming Minnie Mouse rooms will feature a predominantly pink color scheme, with a large illustration of Minnie surrounded by hearts above the headboard.

The alcove bed will receive a heart-patterned bedspread, alongside cushions decorated with Figaro and Fifi, two characters closely associated with Minnie.

The special rooms actually appeared during a previous celebration, but Disney is introducing additional decorations for their return in 2027.

These include a large Minnie Mouse bow painted onto the vanity mirror, with additional hearts and ribbons adorning the surrounding lamps and tables.

Guests will also receive exclusive merchandise during their stay. Each room comes with two Minnie Mouse-themed pouches featuring transparent backs, plus four heart-shaped postcards featuring different illustrations of the character.

The 40-square-meter rooms can accommodate up to four adults, with two children ages 11 or younger also permitted to share existing beds.

According to Disney’s official announcement, prices start at 84,500 yen per night, with rates varying depending on the selected dates and demand.

Reservations for stays between January 12 and March 20 will open on November 20, 2026, at 1 p.m. Japan Standard Time. Bookings for March 21 through March 31 will open four months before each arrival date.

Minnie Mouse Takes Over More Than Just Hotel Rooms

The transformation coincides with Tokyo Disneyland’s upcoming Minnie’s Funderland celebration, which will run from January 13 through March 31, 2027.

The event will mark the seventh and final installment of Disney’s Pal-Palooza series, which has featured seasonal celebrations dedicated to different Disney characters.

During the event, Tokyo Disneyland will present Minnie @Funderland, a roughly 40-minute parade featuring Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and other Disney characters.

The park will also introduce nighttime decorations under the name Funderland Night, including heart and ribbon projections on Cinderella Castle.

The celebrations will extend to Disney’s hotels, with Tokyo Disneyland Hotel and Disney Ambassador Hotel introducing limited-time Minnie Mouse-inspired menus.

At Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Sherwood Garden Restaurant will offer a themed buffet, while Canna will serve special dishes inspired by Minnie’s signature polka dots.

Dreamers Lounge will also introduce themed food and drinks beginning February 1, 2027.

Meanwhile, Disney Ambassador Hotel will offer special meals at Empire Grill and limited-time desserts and drinks at Hyperion Lounge.

Guests will also be able to book the special rooms through select Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Packages, which combine Disney hotel accommodations with park admission and additional experiences.

Depending on the package, these can include attraction passes, reserved entertainment viewing, character encounters, and other benefits designed to help guests plan their visits.

Disney has confirmed that further Vacation Package details will be announced separately.
