Disney Cruise Line Relaxes Testing Requirements Based on Guest Vaccination Status

The cruise industry has been strategically navigating reopening following COVID-related closures for over two years now, and Disney Cruise Line’s fleet is no exception.

Throughout the industry’s reopening, Disney Cruise Line has modified health and safety restrictions ranging from mask guidelines to vaccination and pre-cruise testing updates, and even bringing back traditional Disney character meet and greet experiences.

The latest update to Disney Cruise Line’s arrival process comes with changes to COVID-19 testing requirements on all ships in the fleet, and the changes vary based on Guests’ vaccination status.

Disney Cruise Line has updated its Know Before You Go page on its official website to note updated guidance on testing policies for Guests ahead of their arrival at the cruise terminal.

For Guests who are fully vaccinated, pre-cruise COVID-19 testing will no longer be required. Unvaccinated Guests, however, will still need to test prior to embarkation day, but they are no longer required to test at the terminal. Instead of testing when they arrive at the terminal, unvaccinated Guests can now submit negative COVID-19 test results one to three days prior to embarkation. These changes to pre-cruise COVID-19 testing will be in effect beginning on September 23, 2022.

Disney Cruise Line’s official update reads:

For sailings aboard the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish and Disney Wonder beginning September 23, 2022 (and Disney Magic beginning November 7, 2022), fully vaccinated Guests will no longer be required to complete a second COVID-19 test at the terminal on embarkation day…

For sailings aboard the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish and Disney Wonder beginning September 23, 2022 (and Disney Magic beginning November 7, 2022), Guests who are not fully vaccinated will no longer be required to complete a second COVID-19 test at the terminal on embarkation day…

Upload Proof of Vaccination and/or COVID-19 Test Results: In order to sail, all Guests (adults and children, regardless of age) must upload their proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results on the Inspire Diagnostics Safe Passage website by midnight prior to embarkation day. A parent or legal guardian will need to use their own account to provide this information on behalf of minors. Inspire Diagnostics is Disney Cruise Line’s third-party partner for COVID-19 testing and vaccination verification. It is also recommended that Guests bring a copy of their proof of vaccination and any negative COVID-19 PCR test result with them to the terminal. Guests who fail to upload proof of vaccination and/or COVID-19 test results may be delayed or denied boarding.

Most other COVID-19 policies have already been removed from Disney Cruise Line, with masks no longer being required and social distancing barriers largely removed from each of the ships. The most noticeable modifications Guests will notice aside from the changes to testing before each cruise, is the process of boarding and deboarding the ship, and getting reservations for select activities which may still need to be done in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App.

Disney Cruise Line launched its newest ship, the Disney Wish earlier this summer. The Wish is currently cruising out of Port Canaveral, Florida, nearby the Walt Disney World Resort for three and four-night Bahamian cruises. Disney previously announced that additional cruise ships will be joining the fleet, but we have not yet learned the names or additional details about the upcoming ships.

We recommend reviewing DisneyCruiseLine.com for any updates prior to your next sail, and we will share additional information on Disney Cruise Line vacations as we have it here on DisneyTips.
