Since Walt Disney World officially announced that Villains Land is coming to the Magic Kingdom, the theme park community has been buzzing with excitement. Set to rise in the expansive area “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain,” this sinister expansion promises to give the Most Magical Place on Earth a deliciously dark twist.

Now, Walt Disney Imagineering has finally shared thrilling new details about the land’s flagship roller coaster and its atmospheric background music. If you are ready to embrace your dark side, here is everything you need to know about the new magic brewing in Florida!
The Maleficent Coaster: Accept the Challenge
When concept art for Villains Land first dropped, fans immediately noticed a massive, jagged roller coaster roaring through the skyline. Laced with gothic architecture and ominous green flames, it was clearly inspired by the Mistress of All Evil herself: Maleficent.
Imagineers have now confirmed the official storyline for this highly anticipated E-ticket attraction. The narrative begins with a very special—and incredibly dangerous—invitation. Maleficent has formally invited guests to visit her imposing fortress. However, a villain’s hospitality always comes with a catch. Those brave enough to accept her dark invitation will quickly find themselves presented with a daunting challenge. The roller coaster will task riders with navigating their way through the cursed, enchanted briar that surrounds her lair.
For fans of the classic animated film Sleeping Beauty, this plot is a dream come true. Translating the iconic, impenetrable wall of twisting thorns into a high-speed roller coaster experience promises to be a visual and visceral masterpiece. Riders can expect a frantic, high-speed race where they must dodge massive, jagged vines and crumbling stone towers in a desperate bid to escape the Mistress of All Evil.
A Twisted Soundtrack in the Works
A highly themed land is only as immersive as its background music, and scoring a realm dedicated to Disney’s greatest bad guys is no small task. Fortunately, Walt Disney Imagineering is already hard at work developing the twisted soundtrack for Villains Land, and they have an absolute treasure trove of classic songs to pull from.
Imagineer Mary Webster recently shared her excitement about developing the land’s audio atmosphere, promising fans that the music will be just as epic as the attractions themselves.
“It’s been awesome to be able to dive into all this music. The rich catalog. All the animated films. Lots of treats for y’all in this music,” said Webster.

Because Disney Villains notoriously boast the best musical numbers—from Ursula’s “Poor Unfortunate Souls” to Scar’s “Be Prepared”—Webster’s mention of “treats” suggests we are in for something spectacular. Fans can likely expect dark, symphonic medleys and eerie, instrumental twists on these beloved classics, perfectly setting the menacing mood for a land dripping in dark magic.
With a thrilling race through an enchanted briar patch and a wicked soundtrack in development, Villains Land is shaping up to be an unforgettable addition to the Magic Kingdom.
