Disney Fights Back By Adding a Surprise Fee for Unsuspecting Guests Caught Being Bad

Some Disney faithful feel like they’ve been nickeled and dimed to exhaustion by The Walt Disney Company. Whether it’s add-ons for Disney+, potential hidden fees associated with a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, parking fees at other Disney theme parks, and so on, Disney is no slouch when it comes to breaking our banks.

For years, Disney World and Disneyland guests have complained about small fees that sometimes add up to big chucks. However, when we take a step back and imagine the costs associated with running such a large company and the losses that Disney probably incurs each year due to bad guest behavior, some of the prices associated with things like Genie+ become more stomachable.

Despite our constant grips and complaints about every Disney fee, I believe I have finally found one we can all get behind and support emphatically.

Bad Guests Do Bad Things, Leading to a New Disney Fee

There are some things you just shouldn’t do at Disney. Putting your hands on other guests, attempting to jump into lakes at Disney World, and theft.

Sadly, all of these insubordinate behaviors remain an issue at Disney Parks. Magic Kingdom recently saw a guest decide to go for a swim near Tom Sawyer Island; Disney resorts must deal with theft and loss, and drunken guests can’t help but brawl it out in the World Showcase.

Although fighting could lead to a lifetime ban and potential arrest, it wouldn’t necessarily amount to an additional fee by Disney; the same goes for following many of the other rules and regulations that Disney has put into place. However, all of that is about to change for one particular behavior in Disney Park.

There’s been plenty of news out there surrounding the brand-new Disneyland Pixar Place Hotel, where you can immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Pixar animation.

A new addition or new life breathed into something old is always big news for a Disney Resort. However, it seems there may already be a problem for the Pixar Place Hotel, at least one that Disneyland Resort is anticipating, and it will definitely put a hurting on your wallet.

Theft Leads to New a New Disney Fee

We get it; you probably subscribe to several of Disney’s premier access services like HULU, Disney+, ESPN+, and so on. You may be a Disney Premiere Visa Card holder, or you may be part of Disney’s extensive Annual Passholder and DVC community. However, none of those things give you the right to steal.

Sadly for the rest of us and Disney, it seems that some guests don’t necessarily understand this and feel it appropriate to swipe items from Disney Resort Hotel Rooms. Even more shocking, other times, guests have little issue attempting to steal from a Disney theme park.

However, at Pixar Place Hotel, Disneyland is making it known, in a loud and clear voice, that stealing one particular product will land you in hot water.

Per Inside the Magic, “One other decorative piece in the room is a book called The Art of Pixar. The book shares a lot of history on the company and the makings of the film and serves as a great tableside book. It comes with a decorative sleeve and is quite large in size. While many guests would expect to begin reading about Pixar when they open the first page, there is actually a sticker that Disney has added in.”

Why the need for the sticker? Because Disney is worried about guests swiping the books from hotel rooms, a legitimate concern when you consider everyone’s affinity with memorable vacation pieces.

The front page sticker reads as follows: “This book is available for purchase in Stor-e located in the lobby. If this book should happen to find its way into your luggage, a $100 fee will be added to your folio.”

As the book features beautiful art from popular Pixar films such as Coco (2017), Toy Story (1995), Soul (2020), and Inside Out (2015), it makes sense that guests would potentially want one for their coffee table at home. However, popping this beauty in your luggage will now carry a hefty fine per Disneyland, $100.

Buy the Book Instead of Stealing It

The popular book in question retails for around $50.00 on Amazon. So, if guests decide to swipe it as a keepsake for their Pixar Place stay, they expect to pay well over the typical price that they usually would.

As mentioned by Disneyland, the same book that guests will find in their hotel rooms is available in the shops, and most likely, it can also be found around the theme park. Ultimately, it’s readily available, and there is zero excuse for taking it, and if you do, prepare to be charged a hefty fine.
