When visiting Disneyland Resort, it’s no secret that guests spend a lot of money—from park tickets and dining to souvenirs and Lightning Lane passes. However, some visitors are taking the phrase “throwing away money” quite literally at one particular attraction.
A viral Reddit post has brought attention to a surprising phenomenon happening in the queue for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland Park. A guest recently shared footage showing coins and even dollar bills tossed into Pluto’s dog bowl, which is part of the attraction’s themed queue.

“I usually take the LL route on MMRR, so I always walk right past this without noticing,” the post reads. “But yesterday, I stood in line and saw this and had a laugh. It reminded me of the bills that are thrown in Snow White’s chamber in the queue.”
The post quickly gained traction as other Disneyland fans chimed in, many noting the irony of guests willingly parting with cash after already spending a small fortune just to be in the park.
A Costly Wish?
Tossing coins into fountains and water features is a well-known tradition, with many guests making wishes at spots like Snow White’s Grotto near Sleeping Beauty Castle. However, Pluto’s dog bowl is simply a prop in the highly immersive queue for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which opened in Mickey’s Toontown in 2023.
Some guests speculated that visitors might be mistaking the dog bowl for a wishing well. Others believe it’s simply a case of Disney magic inspiring spontaneous generosity (or silliness).
Whatever the reason, the sight of real money sitting in Pluto’s dog bowl has left many wondering: Where does all that cash go?

Not the First Time
Disneyland is no stranger to guests leaving money in odd places. As the original poster pointed out, visitors have also been known to throw bills into Snow White’s chamber inside the queue for Snow White’s Enchanted Wish. Similar piles of money have also been spotted at Pirates of the Caribbean, where coins are often tossed into the water near the ride’s opening scenes.
While there’s no official word on what happens to these impromptu “donations,” Disneyland likely collects the money periodically, as they do with coins tossed into fountains and other water features. Some of this loose change is rumored to be donated to charity.
A Pricey Souvenir
With Disneyland Resort already known for its sky-high prices, seeing guests literally tossing away money is a sight that many find amusing—and a little baffling. From park admission to merchandise and food, a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth comes with a hefty price tag.
Yet, for some guests, a spare dollar in Pluto’s bowl might just be the cost of adding a little extra Disney magic to their visit.
