How much does MagicBand+ cost?

MagicBand+ will cost $35.99. This price point is a considerable increase over past editions of the MagicBand (with the exception of some limited releases and designer brands) so let’s take a look at the features that set this one apart from the rest.

How is MagicBand+ different from the original MagicBand?

In addition to all of the features of Disney’s original MagicBand, MagicBand+ comes with interactive features that Guests can use to further immerse themselves in select locations around Walt Disney World theme parks. We’ll cover all of the new interactive options separately, but the other major difference is that MagicBand+ is rechargeable.

One of the issues with the original MagicBands was that the battery would only last for a couple of years. This battery life issue made some Guests hesitant to splurge on the more expensive bands knowing that they would not be useful at the Parks eventually. A rechargeable battery can be a gamechanger for Guests looking to keep their MagicBand+ for Park trips in years to come.

What else does MagicBand+ do?

Upon launch, MagicBand+ will interact with the Disney Fab 50 character sculptures that were added to all four theme parks for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. In Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Guests will be able to participate in the Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters, and new interactive elements will be a part of the Beacons for Magic across each Disney Park for Guests with MagicBand+.

Do I need to purchase a MagicBand+?

Nope! MagicBand+ or the original version of Disney’s MagicBand are not required for your Disney vacation. Standard physical Park tickets remain available, and Guests are also able to enter theme parks and their Disney Resort hotel rooms using the Disney MagicMobile service that can be found in the My Disney Experience app.

MagicBand+ will be available for Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort from July 27, 2022. The Disneyland Resort will offer MagicBand+ at a later date, which has not yet been confirmed as of this writing. We will continue to add questions to this FAQ as more come up!
