A close call during a recent performance of Disneyland Resort’s Paint the Night parade has caused quite a stir online. A Disney Park guest unexpectedly ran in front of a moving parade vehicle, attempting to retrieve an item one of the performers had dropped. Another guest captured the Donald Duck performer’s response to the incident.
On May 18, Instagram user @itsdarthavengers shared a video documenting the incident. Before the guest started filming, Donald Duck, who was perched atop his float, dropped his paintbrush wand. The guest, trying to be helpful, rushed into the path of the moving vehicle to return the wand. A Disney cast member immediately intervened, stopping the guest and taking the wand back to Donald Duck. The character appeared to chastize the guest, waving her away.

Although the act of running into a parade route is not advised, another Disney Park guest said that Donald Duck’s reaction was aimed at the cast member who had to stop the guest from returning his wand.
“Actually, I was on the other side when Donald dropped his paintbrush,” @peruvian_bliss wrote. “The guest was the first to grab it to return it to him, but a cast member intercepted it and went around to give it back. Donald’s reaction was directed at the cast member. You can see the guest already walking away, and after that, Donald gets upset at the cast member.”
This marks the second wardrobe malfunction in just a few days during Disneyland Park’s Paint the Night parade, which returned to Southern California on May 16 as part of the Disneyland70 celebrations. Just days before, another viral video showed Tinker Bell also dropping her wand during the parade. Despite the brief disruption, the parade continued.
