After Lightyear (2022) and Strange World (2022) underperformed at the box office last year, Elemental (2023) has a lot riding on it.
What’s Elemental (2023) About?
The story takes place in a vibrant place called Element City and revolves around the friendship between Ember, a quick-witted young woman, and Wade, a fun-loving and sentimental boy. Pixar Animation describes Elemental (2023) as the following: In a city where fire, water, land, and air residents live together, a fiery young woman and a go-with-the-flow guy are about to discover something elemental: How much they actually have in common.
Elemental (2023) Cast and Crew
The film stars the voice talents of Leah Lewis as Ember Lumen and Mamoudou Athie as Wade Ripple, the movie’s two main characters. It also stars Ronnie del Carmen as Bernie Lumen, Ember’s father, Shila Ommi as Cinder Lumen, Ember’s mother, Mason Wertheimer as Clod, Wendi McLendon-Covey as Gale, Catherine O’Hara as Brook Ripple, Joe Pera as Fern Grouchwood, and Matt Yang King as Alan Ripple, Wade’s father.

The movie is directed by Peter Sohn, who also helmed The Good Dinosaur (2015). The story and screenplay were written by Sohn, as well as Kat Likkel, John Hoberg, and Brenda Hsueh.
The Release
Although the film will hit theaters on June 16, 2023, its world premiere begins on May 27, 2023. Many people thus far have been critical of the film’s trailer. First impressions are that it seems too derisive of earlier Disney/Pixar works such as Inside Out (2015) and Zootopia (2016).

However, the final film is received by critics, and audiences have yet to be seen. But it’s always exciting when a new Disney/Pixar film comes out. And unfortunately, not all are created or received equally.
