The Disney World Ride Ready for A Powerline Makeover

“If we listen to each other’s heart…” we’re pretty sure every A Goofy Movie fan would agree that it’s high time for a Powerline-themed attraction at Walt Disney World! With Disney recently rolling out major new attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT and TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom, we can’t help but dream of the day we see Powerline, the legendary pop star from A Goofy Movie (1995), finally get his own spotlight.

For those of us who grew up in the ‘90s, Powerline is nothing short of an icon, and his electrifying songs like “Stand Out” and “I 2 I” are forever cemented in our Disney playlists. While A Goofy Movie revolves around the hilarious and heartfelt relationship between Goofy and his son Max, the film’s high-energy music scenes featuring Powerline took it to a whole new level. And with ’90s nostalgia on the rise, what better time than now to bring Powerline to life with a full-blown attraction at Walt Disney World?

So, what could a Powerline-themed ride look like? And where would it fit best in the parks? Here are some ideas on how Disney could rock our world with a Powerline attraction!

Powerline Meets Disney Parks

Let’s face it: A Goofy Movie has earned cult-classic status, and the soundtrack is a huge part of its appeal. From “After Today” to the unforgettable “On the Open Road,” the movie’s tunes are catchy, upbeat, and full of that classic Disney magic. But the real showstopper is Powerline’s performance, where Max, Goofy, and the audience are treated to two of the best ‘90s bangers in Disney movie history.

This brings us to our big question: why hasn’t Disney created a Powerline-themed attraction yet? Max Goof has already appeared in his Powerline costume at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, dancing down Main Street, U.S.A., to the excitement of every nostalgic fan in the crowd. And we’ve seen Goofy and Max perform their iconic “Perfect Cast” dance routine at special events like Moonlight Magic for Disney Vacation Club members. The fans are here, and they’re ready to stand out!

Let’s explore where a Powerline ride could potentially fit in the parks and how Disney could make it the ultimate throwback experience.

Splash Mountain to Powerline?

A colorful and detailed rock formation resembling a mountain, with rugged terrain, patches of greenery, and a distinct peak. The sky is overcast, adding contrast to the vibrant hues of the rocks. At its base, a wooden structure with a peaked roof hints at the Magic Kingdom's newest attraction launching next month.

Splash Mountain is a beloved attraction that’s set to be reimagined as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, but before that transformation was announced, we couldn’t help but think of how Splash Mountain’s water ride structure could lend itself to a Powerline-themed experience. Imagine transforming Splash Mountain’s log flume into a crazy adventure inspired by Max and Goofy’s wild road trip to the Powerline concert in A Goofy Movie.

In this version, the Colorado River from the movie would serve as the backdrop, and guests would experience wild rapids, near misses with obstacles (and maybe even Bigfoot!), and, of course, a rockin’ Powerline soundtrack throughout the ride. Instead of “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah,” you’d hear “Stand Out” and “I 2 I” blasting as your boat zooms down the drops, with scenes from Max and Goofy’s journey along the way.

While the transformation of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is well underway, the idea of reimagining a classic water ride with a Goofy Movie twist is enough to make us daydream about what could have been.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Here’s an idea that just makes sense turn Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith into a Powerline-themed attraction. This thrilling indoor roller coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios already has the perfect setup to take guests on a fast-paced journey to a Powerline concert. Plus, with recent rumors that the Aerosmith music rights may be expiring soon, Disney could have the opportunity to reimagine this ride in a brand-new way.

Picture this: instead of racing through the streets of Los Angeles to an Aerosmith concert, you’re now racing to get Max and Goofy to the Powerline concert in time. The pre-show could feature Max and Goofy in a rush to make it to the show, with Goofy trying to help Max get on stage to perform the iconic “I 2 I” dance. Once you board the roller coaster, Powerline’s high-energy hits will play through the speakers, and the ride will take you on a whirlwind adventure through neon lights, fast cars, and concert arenas.

The upside-down loops and fast speeds of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster would be the perfect match for Powerline’s electrifying stage presence, giving guests the chance to rock out while they ride.

Dinosaur

What if we took the essence of the chaotic road trip from A Goofy Movie and turned it into a dark ride? Enter Dinosaur at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This classic attraction, while beloved, has shown signs of aging, and with DinoLand U.S.A. in need of a revamp, we think Max and Goofy could give this ride a much-needed refresh.

Imagine replacing the dinosaurs with scenes from Max and Goofy’s road trip, complete with near-disasters like Lester’s Possum Park, Bigfoot encounters, and that unforgettable moment where Goofy teaches Max the “Perfect Cast.” The ride vehicle could be transformed into Max and Goofy’s car, and instead of searching for a dinosaur, guests would be on a wild chase to make it to Powerline’s concert on time. The dark ride format would be a perfect way to incorporate some of the film’s funnier moments, and of course, the Powerline soundtrack would amp up the energy.

With DinoLand U.S.A. ripe for a reimagining, a Goofy Movie-themed road trip ride could breathe new life into the area.

Creating a Powerline-themed attraction at Walt Disney World isn’t just a fun idea—it makes perfect sense. As A Goofy Movie continues gaining popularity among longtime fans and newer generations, there’s never been a better time to bring this ‘90s gem to the parks. Powerline’s music is timeless, his stage presence is electrifying, and Max and Goofy’s story is one of Disney’s most heartwarming father-son adventures.

Plus, the potential for interactivity and high-energy thrills would make any Powerline attraction an instant favorite among guests of all ages. Whether it’s a roller coaster that blasts Powerline’s biggest hits, a dark ride that takes you through Max and Goofy’s wild journey, or even a concert-inspired show, the possibilities are endless.

What’s Next for Powerline at Disney Parks?

While there’s no official word on a Powerline attraction (yet), the excitement surrounding A Goofy Movie and Powerline’s legendary status continues to grow. Fans of the film are eager for more ways to experience the magic of Powerline in the parks, and we hope Disney takes note!

Whether you’re a ‘90s kid who grew up singing along to “Stand Out” or a new fan discovering Powerline’s music for the first time, one thing is clear: a Powerline-themed attraction at Walt Disney World would stand out from the crowd!
