A viral TikTok video has sparked a heated debate about the safety of riding Disney Park attractions while pregnant. At both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, safety warnings are clearly posted at the entrances to rides, advising guests to avoid certain attractions during pregnancy due to health risks. However, some guests seem to be skipping these warnings and continuing to ride thrilling attractions.

TikTok user @twinbelles_114 recently shared a video showing herself approaching the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster at Disneyland Park, only to get off just before the ride started. “POV: You’re 20 weeks pregnant but still had to get on Big Thunder Mountain,” she joked in the video, adding, “I couldn’t resist getting on my favorite ride.”

Although she didn’t end up riding, the video quickly went viral, accumulating over one million views and 80,000 likes, and sparked a debate on social media about the dangers of ignoring Disney’s posted safety guidelines.

Disney has always been known for its family-friendly atmosphere, with many attractions designed for all ages, but they still warn against certain high-speed or bumpy rides for pregnant guests. In light of the viral video, many Disney Parks fans voiced concerns about pregnant guests ignoring safety warnings.

One comment from @sctocx reflected the general sentiment: “They say to go by the age range. If a small baby can go on it, it’s generally okay once you don’t have any other issues in your pregnancy, but anything with a lap bar and any sort of jolting and thrashing around is a big risk. It’s just not worth it.”

“When I went to Disney last year I was in line for slinky dog and there was this women behind me visibly pregnant bump and all and they let her on the ride with drops, bumps and turns I was shocked,” @lesleygonzales2 added.

Some former Disney cast members also shared their personal experiences, emphasizing the serious consequences of ignoring safety warnings. @malerie43 shared a tragic story from their time as a Disney cast member: “I’m a former CM and one of the worst days I’ve had working was when a woman came up for medical help as she was miscarrying after going on rides. Let’s just say the not recommended ones. We had to call an ambulance. Those boasting about actually going on the coasters while pregnant, count your blessings you and baby were ok.”

Despite the concerns, some guests defended their decisions to ride while pregnant, citing their personal experiences.

“I am ap at Disney and I still go on most rides and have been fine,” @nikkimundo12 argued. “When I was in my 1st trimester I rode Space Mountain + Incredicoaster at DL. I think you’ll be fine one time.”

“I went to Disney world at 26 weeks pregnant & got on every single ridee,” @blacktravels wrote. “No complications at all. Most Disney rides are not high thrill at all.”

“My ob said as long as there’s no tight lap bar and you hold on instead of raising your hands so you can brace for the stops there’s no more risk than driving on a bumpy road,” @kate_west24 echoed.

The debate continues among Disney Parks fans, but Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort have clear safety warnings in place. The Disney parks urge all guests to follow the guidelines and consult their healthcare providers if they are uncertain about the risks. Pregnant guests should carefully consider their options when visiting the parks and be aware of the potential risks associated with certain attractions.
