Disney World Dining Location Accused of Serving Spoiled Food & Employee Discrimination

The Walt Disney World Resort is a foodie’s paradise offering Guests everything from classic theme park snacks to signature dining experiences and everything in between.

We often recommend looking outside of the Parks if you are looking to try something new and delicious at Walt Disney World as some of the best restaurants are actually located at the Resorts or at Disney Springs. Unfortunately for fans of sweet snacks at Disney Springs, though, one popular bakery has been accused of serving rotten food and discriminating against employees with disabilities.

The TikTok page @exposingjobs has moved in on Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC, a vegan and gluten-free bakery, making this location an especially popular spot for Guests with special diets looking for desserts in Disney Springs. @exposingjobs shared several troubling videos on the eatery sharing that this location has been serving Guests stale, expired, and often rotten food, while simultaneously claiming that the bakery has discriminated against workers.

Among food-related issues shown in the videos, are muffins and eclairs that are so stale they had become hardened, coconut milk that was partially frozen then left out and appeared to turn into “cheese,” metal residue on food, mold in coffee machines, and more:

According to @exposingjobs, photos taken from inside the kitchen and storage areas in other videos on the TikTok account show allergen-friendly items touching and kept beside other foods with allergens. For a Guest who has a severe food allergy, an item labeled as allergen-friendly even barely touching something they are allergic to has the potential to become incredibly dangerous.

On top of the allegations regarding food safety at Erin McKenna’s, the TikTok account shows an employee (while not explicitly stated, likely the person behind the account) being spoken to by a manager with the caption noting, “when a coworker’s bf records you as your manager tells you you’re ‘too autistic’ to work anywhere that’s not your home.”

While Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC operates in Disney Springs, the store is not owned or operated by Disney and is its own private company. The bakery has not commented on these accusations (at least publicly), as of the writing of this article.

Whether or not you return to Erin McKenna’s, there are several places to stop for something sweet while exploring Disney Springs. Fan-favorite spots include Gideon’s Bakehouse for its rich and delicious cookies, Sprinkles, with its iconic cupcake ATM, and The Ganachery (get the s’mores if they have them!) just to name a few.

We will continue to monitor news out of Disney Springs and will report back here with additional information as we have it.
