Earlier this month, a fight broke out over a water bottle on Walt Disney World Resort’s controversial Pirates of the Caribbean ride. One Magic Kingdom Park guest captured the incident on camera, sparking online debate among Disney Parks fans.

The fight, which occurred on July 12, was captured in a TikTok video shared by a Walt Disney World Resort guest named Jennalynn (@jennalynnmj). The video shows a tense exchange between three men in the gift shop just after exiting the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

The altercation began when one of the men allegedly used his water bottle to splash other riders on board the Adventure attraction. As tempers flared, the accused splasher defended his actions, telling the others to act like “adults.” One of the other men retaliated, shouting, “This is Disney World, not your world!”

One of the men involved and a woman flagged down a Disney cast member to explain that the man had splashed everyone on the ride by spinning his full water bottle around. This caused the situation to draw attention from nearby Disney cast members, who began to intervene.

Jennalynn’s recording seemed to fuel the tension further. One of the men sarcastically commented, “Oh, good, you’re recording. Good job, guys,” and gave a thumbs-up. Jennalynn, unfazed by the comment, quipped back, “This is my cheap entertainment.”

As more cast members approached, Jennalynn explained that the man standing next to her had started the situation. A nearby guest commented that neither party handled the situation well, with one Disney cast member telling the group to “relax.”

Ultimately, Jennalynn remained confused: “On a 100° day, somebody could splash me with water all they want.”

Disney Parks fans quickly voiced their opinions in the comments section. Many agreed with Jennalynn, questioning the overreaction.

“They know they get wet ON that ride, right?” @magicalbumblebri asked.

@squeezibean pointed out that the Walt Disney World Resort cast member likely had it far worse than the guests involved in the fight: “That CM who has to wear THAT COSTUME (iykyk) in an open air/barely any ceiling store in 100-degree weather… those socks alone are insufferable any time a year, especially summer.”

On the other hand, some fans sided with the agitated guests, expressing that they too would be upset if a stranger splashed them.

“I don’t want some random person throwing water or whatever he wants on me,” @d379pr commented.

“A water bottle that he has been drinking from, which may contain a virus of some kind is not okay,” @jad3161 agreed.

Some Walt Disney World Resort fans felt the entire fight could have been avoided. @nicosabuco summed it up, writing, “Too many people and a bunch of foolery.”

“Please ban all of them,” @mrcoache replied.

This incident comes amid ongoing debates about the content of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Since the late 2010s, the ride has been the subject of discussion due to the removal of the brides-for-auction scene and the introduction of independent female pirates. While many guests support the more inclusive changes, others argue that Disney is sanitizing the history of piracy.

The ride’s portrayal of pirates has also sparked discomfort among some guests, with TikTok users voicing concerns about the portrayal of male pirates and their behavior toward women. In 2023, a woman went viral after calling the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction “a little bit rapey.”

Despite these ongoing discussions, Walt Disney Imagineering has not announced any further changes to the ride. However, a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge is scheduled to open adjacent to the Adventureland attraction later this year.
