With no immediate explanation for the source, concern spread fast — though neither Disneyland Park nor Disney California Adventure Park paused operations at any point during the incident.

As footage of the smoke circulated online, guests at the Disneyland Hotel were evacuated from the property. The newly opened Discovery Tower, the Disney Vacation Club addition to the Disneyland Hotel, became an early focal point of speculation as onlookers tried to determine where the smoke was originating. According to @DisneyScoopGuy, a helicopter circled overhead as Disney Resort staff and authorities assessed the situation.

Guests were just evacuated from the Disneyland Hotel and black smoke was reported coming from the Discovery Tower. Guests are currently being allowed to return and a helicopter is circling overhead.

Guests weren’t kept out for long. By early afternoon, the all-clear was given, and visitors were allowed back into their Disneyland Hotel rooms.

Investigators determined that the smoke had nothing to do with Disneyland Resort at all. A house fire on Calle Del Sol in Anaheim was responsible for the billowing black smoke and was contained to a single residential property, posing no danger to the Southern California Disney parks, hotels, or Downtown Disney.
