There have been so many discussions back and forth about vaccine mandates and the Walt Disney Company. For some time, all Disney Cast Members were required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Walt Disney World then took a step back on these mandates, and it is no longer required for those working at Walt Disney World to be fully vaccinated.

Those Cast Members working in California at Disneyland it is a totally different story. There has been talk between union leaders and Disneyland Resort, and they have had a lot of back-and-forth conversation.

The final decision was that there would still be a vaccine mandate for all Cast Members at Disneyland in California.

According to a Facebook post from Workers United Local 50 it stated:
“We have received notice, after months of good faith negotiations on the matter, that the company will be moving forward on a vaccine mandate for Local 50 and other Union’s not currently under a mandate. Cast will receive an email with details of the mandate. The deadline will be April 11th to have verification of vaccination submitted. Accommodations for religious and/or medical reasons will be available.”

The Walt Disney Company informed all of their union and non-union Cast Members that they need to be fully vaccinated, according to deadline:
“Since then, according to a Disneyland official, the company has been negotiating with unions representing many remaining workers under collective bargaining agreements. Members covered by those agreements must now complete vaccination protocols by March 28, per the park official.”

It is said that there is a two week window between the original date which was March 28th, and the new date, April 11th. That is a grace window for Cast Members to show proof of vaccinations.

This sounds very familiar to what happened at Walt Disney World, but this did not hold, and in November of 2021, the requirement was then in void.

There are much stricter rules with COVID in California than in Florida, so it is not surprising that the mandates would be different in the two states. There are still face covering rules in place at both parks for all Guest and Cast Members indoors and on all forms of transportation.
