Theme Park Reservations Are Finally Available for Disney Trips in Early 2023

Planning a Disney vacation has become a lengthy process in itself, between purchasing tickets and securing theme park reservations, advanced dining reservations, Genie+, Individual Lightning Lane and more.

The Disney Park Pass Reservation System (and restrictions on Park Hopping) have been mainstays of the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort Experience since the Parks opened following the pandemic, and while Guests may be disappointed about this reminder, it does seem that they are here to stay.

At Walt Disney World, theme park reservations have largely remained available until a Park reaches capacity. At the Disneyland Resort, however, new theme park reservations beginning  January 8, 2023, were paused for Guests visiting either or both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure over the summer.

The reason for pausing new reservations, at least from what Disney officially shared, was to prepare for the Disney100 celebration that kicks off in January 2023 to honor the founding of the Walt Disney Company in 1923. While the celebration will feature special events and experiences at theme parks around the world, as the original Disney Park, Disneyland is set to be the center of the festivities.

Reservations for January 8, 2023, and beyond are now available once again for those visiting the Disneyland Resort. In fact, reservations were opened back up this morning, at the same time that Disney rolled out price increases of at least 8-9% per ticket for Guests visiting Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

We’ll give Disney the benefit of the doubt that the two are unrelated, but it does seem like opening up reservations on the same day that prices increase could cause some frustration for Guests. We at Disney Tips, along with official Disney travel agents, and the company itself, are always recommending that you check for reservations before purchasing your tickets. This has become to standard recommendation for planning a Disney vacation because we do not want our readers to be out of luck if you purchase a ticket only to realize that the Parks were already at capacity during your visit.

Unfortunately, for Guests visiting Disneyland in the new year, this could mean that some held off on purchasing tickets until those reservations opened back up. And, they only opened back up this morning, at the exact same time as the ticket prices were increased.

The good news then, is that theme park reservations are once again available for those visiting Disneyland after January 8, 2023. The bad news, is that if you have not yet purchased tickets, you will find that they are now at least 5-6% more expensive and up to 11% pricier depending on the date of your trip.

Tickets and reservations can now be booked on Disneyland.com. As always, we’ll be back here on Disney Tips with the latest news, updates, and planning advice for Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
