After a towering princess castle, one of the most iconic elements inside a Disney theme Park Resort is the monorail system. Riding the Disney monorail has become part of a classic Disney vacation. But Disney Park Guests on the West Coast may have to do without the monorail for nearly two months this summer.

Disneyland Monorail
Beginning today (July 5), the Disneyland monorail will be shut down for a multi-week-long refurbishment. Although the Disneyland monorail is less wide-reaching than the one at Walt Disney World, it still transports Guests in and out of the theme Park. It connects Tomorrowland, located inside Disneyland Park, to a station at Downtown Disney (the Resort’s shopping and entertainment district).
It also passes through Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa, similar to how Walt Disney World’s system passes through the Contemporary Resort. However, the Disneyland version does not have a station built into the Grand California hotel like the Disney World monorail system has as the Contemporary.Credit: Inside the Magic

The system will be down until the end of August, forcing theme Park Guests to walk in and out of Disneyland through the main entrance. The closure of the monorail system may be a bit of an inconvenience, especially for first-time Guests who may struggle to navigate the California Resort. However, its scheduled refurbishment aligns with the Walt Disney Company’s tradition of keeping its rides, buildings, shows, and attractions up-to-date and as pristine as possible.

Walt Disney World Monorail
In related news, Walt Disney World Resort has recently debuted a new look to their Monorail. Disney Guests will notice a brand-new sign welcoming them to the iconic single-rail ride. Hopefully, Disneyland Resort Guests will be able to enjoy a similar experience in the near future.
