6. You could get a discount on your pass purchase.

We all love discounts, right? Well if you are a Florida resident, you can definitely get a discount on your pass purchases. It will require that you show proof of residency, but the discount is definitely a nice savings. If you were looking for more reasons to join DVC, well the pass discounts is one of them. If you are a DVC member, in most cases it will make more sense to purchase season/annual passes instead of purchasing tickets separately. Be sure to check for all options and what you may qualify for before you pay full price for your passes.

5. Unlimited PhotoPass downloads are now included.

If you purchase the Platinum Plus, Platinum or Gold annual passes, one of your benefits are now unlimited PhotoPass downloads, including all pictures taken by PhotoPass photographers, dining package photos, ride photos and special event photos. This is a great perk, especially since previously these passholders would rarely purchase these photos. The photos automatically populate within your My Disney Experience account and you can download them as often as you would like. This is one of the new changes that were made to the passes, and so far we LOVE it!

4. Many pass options to meet your needs.

There are several different pass options, no matter what your traveling and visiting styles are within the parks. If you don’t care about going on major holidays and the busiest weeks, then you can save a decent chunk of money by electing one of the passes that have blackout dates. If you don’t care about waterparks, you can also purchases lesser packages that don’t include them. There is also a weekday only pass, an Epcot after 4 pass, a waterparks only pass and a few different tiers and combinations of access to all 4 theme parks. There is definitely a plan that will meet your needs, budget and flexibility. Decisions, decisions!

3. Restaurant and merchandise discounts for Passholders.

Passholders receive 10% off at many restaurants and merchandise locations all across Walt Disney World Resort. This can be a huge savings if you like to dine and shop during your visits on property. This can sometimes make up for a large portion of the costs of the tickets depending on your spending habits, or at the minimum offset the cost. Every little bit helps, right?

2. Special events and freebies.

Disney tries to take really good care of their passholders. There are special events, premiers and previews that passholders are invited to experience first. There are also freebies that are given out when annual passholders attend certain events. For example, during Food & Wine Festival, passholders could get a free event port wine glass if they attended the event 3 different times during the season. During Star Wars Weekends, passholders would receive a different Star Wars poster each weekend that they attended the event. These little freebies are amazing and exclusive to passholders, which makes them extra special collectibles for all of you Disney-philes out there.

1. Discounts and tours, special events and services.

There are all kinds of magical extras and special events that occur across all of Walt Disney World. There are tours, parties, limited time events, salons, spas, recreational activities and rentals, etc. Annual Passholders receive discounts on almost all of these different services. This can make it much more cost effective to be able to enjoy these experiences without paying full price. The discounts typically range from 10-15% depending on the experience. Also, there are special resort discounts for passholders. These discounts can be as much as 35% off depending on the season and the promotion that is being offered. That can definitely help pay for the cost of the passes if you like to stay at the resorts frequently. All of the savings really add up and are great perks to being passholders.

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
