Some of our favorite restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort serve up incredible breakfast options, and that is the most important meal of the day, after all. While many restaurants serve breakfast until at least 10:30 a.m., you may want to plan an earlier breakfast so you can make the most of your time in the theme parks.
Getting up and out the door early for breakfast can be a process in itself, especially after a long day or two exploring the Parks, but it can be well worth it for some of Disney’s best dining experiences. If you are looking to maximize your time by grabbing an early bite at a different Disney Resort, we’ve got everything you need to know about saving the most time and getting to your meal in the quickest and easiest way possible.
Plan your early breakfast around the Park you are visiting
Regardless of which Disney Resort you are staying at, we recommend planning your breakfast at a Resort near the first Park you plan to visit. For instance, if you are heading over to the Magic Kingdom, you may want to plan breakfast at one of the Resorts along the monorail, or Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (which features a boat to the Park.)
For EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, restaurants at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort are all in walking distance or a short boat ride away from both Parks.
And for Disney’s Animal Kingdom, there might not be walking, boat, or monorail access to the theme park, but Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is a very quick bus ride away.
You will also want to consider the Resorts that are connected by the Disney Skyliner, which include Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort along with Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT’s International Gateway (within a short walk of Yacht & Beach Club, the Boardwalk, and the Swan and Dolphin).
Of course, this method doesn’t work for every Resort and every Park, (we’re thinking specifically of Olivia’s Cafe at Disney’s Old Key West Resort which has its own delicious breakfast), but if you are unsure of how to start planning your early breakfast this tip could help you get started.
Consider time vs. money
Our next tip depends on whether or not you have a car with you. If you are driving yourself, you can head right to the Resort then drive to the Park after breakfast. (Be prepared with reservations if you go this route as security will likely ask depending on the Resort before you enter the parking area.)
Without a car, you’ll need to compare what is more valuable to you: Time or money? In most cases, we recommend taking a Minnie Van (or Uber/Lyft) to the Resort where you are eating breakfast, then you can use Disney’s complimentary bus, boat, or monorail transportation to the Park from there.
With the exception of Minnie Vans, which come at an added fee, Disney’s complimentary transportation does not cover travel from Resort to Resort. As such, unless you are staying in the EPCOT Resort Area and can walk to the other Resort, or are on the Magic Kingdom monorail loop, you may find it easier to pay a little bit extra to go directly to the Resort where your breakfast is planned.
Otherwise, you’ll need to transfer at a theme park or Disney Springs. For most Resorts, this means taking a bus then hopping on another bus (or boat, or monorail). If you go this route, take the bus to the Park closest to where your breakfast reservation is. For instance, if you are staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort and getting breakfast at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, you could take a bus to the Magic Kingdom, then take the monorail to the Resort for breakfast. (Then, if you followed our earlier trip, and are spending the day in this Park, you’ll only be a short ride away after breakfast.)
Ready to make your next Resort breakfast reservation? Some of our favorite breakfast spots outside the Parks include:
- Grand Floridian Cafe at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
Be sure to make reservations in advance either on the My Disney Experience app or on DisneyWorld.com. Enjoy!
