A recent guest report has highlighted a notable change at EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion regarding the popular Japanese soda, Ramune. According to the visitor:

“Looks like after several years of changing up where, when, and how they’re sold, Mitsukoshi has finally settled on banning Ramune from being consumed inside EPCOT. A kinda sad update, I would always get one whenever they served them cold inside the store.”

Ramune No Longer Allowed Indoors

The report indicates that, after years of shifting availability and consumption rules, Mitsukoshi has now restricted guests from drinking Ramune inside EPCOT. Known for its iconic glass bottle and marble-sealed top, the soda had been a favorite for visitors exploring the Japan Pavilion. The move comes likely as a result of the park-wide glass bottle ban, which has been in effect for several years, prioritizing safety and convenience in high-traffic areas. While guests may still purchase the beverage, indoor consumption is no longer permitted.

Longtime visitors who enjoyed sipping a chilled Ramune while shopping or exploring the pavilion see this as a small but noticeable change in the EPCOT experience. The adjustment underscores the park’s ongoing effort to balance guest enjoyment with operational safety protocols. Social media reactions suggest a mix of disappointment and understanding, with many lamenting the loss of the indoor experience but recognizing the reasoning behind the restriction.

What Comes Next?

Neither Mitsukoshi nor EPCOT has issued an official statement regarding the new policy. A sign reportedly placed on the display case informs guests that beverages may be purchased but not consumed inside the park. The decision continues a pattern of operational adjustments at EPCOT designed to maintain both safety and guest satisfaction.

As the Japan Pavilion evolves, updates like this serve as a reminder that Disney constantly evaluates park experiences to ensure safety while offering authentic cultural experiences. While indoor Ramune consumption may no longer be available, visitors can still enjoy the pavilion’s wide array of foods, drinks, and merchandise throughout the park.

The restriction on indoor Ramune consumption highlights Disney’s careful balancing act between maintaining authentic experiences and enforcing safety measures, ensuring EPCOT remains safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all guests.
