How to Become a Galactic Hero

To achieve a score of 999,999 on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, three things are required:

  • fast and accurate laser shooting
  • control your star cruiser using the joystick
  • knowledge of the high-scoring targets and their location

When you board, you have time to settle into your star cruiser and check that your laser shooter works before entering the first room that contains the ‘Zā€™ targets. Once the laser shooters are powered up, check that it works by placing your hand just a short distance in front and shoot the laser until you see a red dot on your hand. You are then ready to begin your quest.

To achieve a perfect score and gain the title of Galactic Hero, there are four targets that you will need to aim for. Successfully hitting these targets multiple times will allow you to achieve a perfect score. You can earn a score of 999,999 at any point during the ride.

The Robot

The first room that contains targets features a giant orange robot to the left. Each of its hands has a ‘Zā€™ target, and itā€™s the left hand you should aim for, as each target hit is worth 100,000 points. Itā€™s easier to hit this target when you are further away, so prepare to turn your star cruiser to the left upon entering the room. Continue to pilot your cruiser towards the robot while in the room, as it will otherwise the ride will spin you away from it.

The Claw

ā€œOoooo, the claw!ā€ Once youā€™ve passed the robot, pilot your star cruiser to the right, and look to the ceiling to see a giant claw. The target in the center is also worth 100,000 points per hit. This is another target you will need to shoot at from a distance. You will likely find it easier to hit by traveling backward away from it.

The Volcano

Once you have passed the claw, you will enter the second room. The volcano is where you need to aim in this room. After passing the claw, make sure you turn your star cruiser round to face forward. Once inside the room, continue to rotate your star cruiser to face the volcano. The top target is where you need to aim, with each blast scoring 50,000 points. Not only will your score rise with every hit, but the volcano will also erupt!

The Bottom of the Spaceship

After leaving the second room, Guests will meet with Zurg. He will be inside a strange-looking spaceship on the right. At the bottom of the spaceship, you will see a ā€˜Z’ target located just below PITIFUL. This is the final target that will score 100,000 points with every hit. You will need to hit this from a distance as you enter the room, and once you have passed it. Make sure to continue to turn your star cruiser while shooting at your target.
