Have you used Genie+ yet during a Walt Disney World vacation? The service (which is essentially a paid version of Disney’s previous FastPass+) offers little to no wait times for select attractions for an added fee ($15-30) which Guests can opt to purchase for the day of their visit (based on availability). Additionally, some attractions are not included in Genie+ but still have a Lightning Lane entrance that can be accessed through an individual purchase for those rides.
As you may have guessed, or as you may know from firsthand experience, the value of Genie+ really depends on what the crowd levels are like in the theme parks during your trip and how well you know how to use the system. When considering whether or not purchasing Genie+ is worth it, be sure to note Disney’s latest update which does help add to what you get with your purchase.

We previously learned that on-ride photo downloads would eventually be a part of Genie+ at Walt Disney World, and today, February 23, 2023, the Disney Parks Blog confirmed that this change will go into effect on March 20, 2023.
On-ride photos are available at many popular attractions, including Space Mountain and the Haunted Mansion, and soon TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom Park, Test Track, Frozen Ever After, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain and DINOSAUR in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and more.

It is important to note that this change includes on-ride photos only, not all of the other pictures taken by Disney PhotoPass Cast Members around the theme parks and Resorts. And, the new photo update only includes rides ridden on days when Guests has purchased Genie+, so it may not cover every day of your trip.
Disney Genie+ is also based on availability and must be purchased on the day of your visit, as Disney has removed the option to purchase in advance along with you tickets or vacation package.
Will you be taking advantage of these complimentary PhotoPass downloads during your next trip to “The Most Magical Place on Earth”? If so, be sure to ride your favorite attractions on the days that you purchase Genie+!
