A trip to Disney World is expected to be filled with magic, treats, and fun experiences. While that dream often comes true, some Guests do not experience the ‘happily ever after’ effect. One Guest recently visited EPCOT at Walt Disney World and is speaking out about her experience. Her experience includes a less-than-magical time with a security guard as she tried to enter EPCOT.

Disney World is made up of four Parks, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. Additionally, Disney World has Resorts and Disney Springs. At all of these locations, it is common to have security guards at the entranceway before beginning your day. To ensure the safety of all Guests and Cast Members, Disney requires walking through metal detectors, searching through bags and strollers, and patting individuals down if necessary.

Unfortunately, it seems this Guest did not have an easy experience when trying to begin her day at EPCOT.

Disney Guest Experience

As shown in the TikTok above, @thequeerdisabledjew reported their experience at Disney World this past weekend. The story alleges that a security guard proceeded to punch the back of the wheelchair as Bernie could not sit forward due to a spinal injury for a security check. As described in the video, typically, a security guard will pat down the Guest and wheelchair and allow them entry since being wheelchair bowned does not allow for going through a metal detector.

Although Bernie very much understood the necessary procedure to ensure no firearms or objects were hidden in the wheelchair, how the security guard went about it was what was most upsetting. Inside the Magic report, Bernie said, “She punched the first time – I screamed out. She punched the second time – I screamed out,” Bernie recalled. “Then she said, ‘That was necessary.’ It was not. She hurt me. I could not go on any rides today. It was a terrible experience.”

Disney fans commented on the TikTok post with condolences on what happened to the Disney Guest. While Disney Parks was even tagged in the comment section, there has been no update on the allegations or further information on the incident.

Disney World Rules and Regulations

Walt Disney World has a lengthy rules and regulations page for all Guests to understand what is required during their visit. The list is not just for the Parks but includes Disney Springs, all Disney Resorts, and truly anything that is considered Disney property. Disney also notes, “These rules are subject to change at any time without notice.”
