How To Tackle Disney’s Hollywood Studios If You Only Have One Day

There is so much you’ll want to see and do at the Walt Disney World parks. Depending on how much time you have, you might have to fit in everything that Disney’s Hollywood Studios has to offer in one day. Although there is a lot happening all around you, it can be done. Here are some tips on getting as much as you can out of Disney’s Hollywood Studios in one day.

FastPass+

We cannot stress enough how much you will want to use FastPass+. The wait times on rides can get very long and without using FastPass+ you will most likely not get everything in because you will be waiting in so many lines. Most guests can make their selections up to 30 days in advance, while Disney resort guests can make their selections up to 60 days in advance. Be sure you understand the Tier system at Hollywood Studios, where you can only selection one Tier 1 attraction and two Tier 2 attractions in your initial three FastPass+ selections.

Get There Early

If you get to the park as soon as it opens you can head straight to your favorite ride. The thrill seeker in the family will want to go immediately to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, while those who still want a good time that is a bit calmer will want to head straight for Toy Story Midway Mania. In general, those are the two attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that will have the longest wait times later in the day. Another good one to hit early is The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, especially on busy days its wait time can get longer too.

Shows

Right when you get to the park look up what times the shows are. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has some incredible shows that you won’t want to miss. Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular for example puts you right in the middle of the action from a classic movie that everyone knows. Make sure you get there early to get the best seats, some shows do fill up fast. The last show of the day is sometimes less crowded so try and see that one if you can. Also, the shows at most times of the year are during the day so make sure you don’t wait too long or you’ll miss them.

Shorter Wait Times During Parade

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will sometimes have awesome special events parades at different times of the year or the daily, brief March of the First Order. We’re not saying to skip parades, but if you just happen to miss one the ride wait times will most likely be shorter. The parades aren’t for everyone so if that’s not high on your must do list that is something that you’ll want to keep in mind.

Extra FastPass+

If you have used all your FastPasses for the day and it’s still pretty early go to a FastPass+ kiosk or go onto the My Disney Experience App to see if you can grab an extra FastPass. During busy days there might not be much left but it doesn’t hurt to check! Who knows, there might still be a good one left.

Use Mobile Ordering Option

It’s super simple to use Mobile Ordering at numerous Quick Service Restaurants throughout Disney World Property, including many Quick Service spots at Hollywood Studios. Order and pay for your food from the My Disney Experience app and pick up your food when you arrive. It’s awesome!

Arrive Early for Fantasmic!

Fantasmic is a must do, especially if you’ve never seen it before. Disney gives it all they have with this show, they don’t hold back. Fantasmic seats fill up fast. You will have to get there very early if you want a good seat. There is a place for standing room only, but kids will have a very limited view of the show. Now here is an insider tip; if there are two Fantasmic shows that night go to the second one. It will be much less crowded. Plus usually the rest of the attractions are closed by the second show so you can stay at Disney even later. Also, if you sit toward the front you will get wet, which isn’t always a bad thing in the Florida heat.

Plan for Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular

It doesn’t matter if you are a Star Wars nerd or not – Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular is the perfect way to close out a night at Hollywood Studios! Watch as the Chinese Theater turns into a huge screen for a 14-minute show full of high-definition projection surrounded by lasers, fire, incredible music and sound effects, and of course – the sky lights up with awesome fireworks! If you attend Fantasmic, chances are you might miss the beginning of the show. Check times and plan accordingly to which nighttime event your family prefers!
