Hundreds of Disney guests are rethinking their vacation plans after receiving notice of a last-minute itinerary change aboard Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Treasure.
Disney has long been the gold standard for immersive vacations, blending storytelling, innovation, and impeccable service—whether on land or at sea. Disney Cruise Line extends this magic to the open ocean, offering world-class entertainment, themed dining, and beloved character interactions. Every voyage is a carefully curated experience designed to capture the same enchantment found in Disney’s iconic parks.
What’s Changing for the May 2026 Sailing?
But even Disney vacations aren’t immune to unexpected adjustments. This week, guests booked on the Disney Treasure’s May 23, 2026, sailing were informed that their 7-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary had been modified.
According to Cruise Hive, the shift affects the ship’s scheduled stops in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, and St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. Originally, the voyage from Port Canaveral included two sea days followed by a visit to Tortola, then St. Thomas.
Now, Disney Treasure will spend Sunday and Monday at sea before stopping at St. Thomas first on May 26, with Tortola moved to May 27. The final sea day and the stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, remain unchanged.
Disney Cruise Line didn’t provide a specific reason for the swap, but port congestion is a likely factor—an issue not uncommon in the cruising world. Schedules can shift, especially this far in advance. Interestingly, the original itinerary had Disney Treasure as the only ship scheduled for Tortola on May 26.
However, Norwegian Luna is now set to dock there on May 27, raising the possibility that St. Thomas’s schedule may have been too packed for Disney to deliver the seamless experience guests expect.
This isn’t the first time the Disney Cruise Line has had to adjust its plans. In November, itineraries were altered due to ongoing unrest in New Caledonia, and just this month, several Puerto Rico sailings were adjusted because of limited port availability in San Juan.
While itinerary changes are never ideal, Disney’s commitment to creating magical moments at sea remains unchanged. Guests may have to shift their plans slightly, but the adventure aboard Disney Treasure promises to be just as unforgettable.
