Walt Disney World Resort has made another significant change to the Jungle Cruise attraction at Magic Kingdom Park, officially removing a popular free souvenir that had been offered to guests for years. This move marks the latest shift for an attraction that has been continuously evolving since its opening more than five decades ago.
In 2022, Magic Kingdom introduced the “Safari Sacks” in collaboration with Ziploc, offering guests a fun and practical way to store small valuables while enjoying the Jungle Cruise. The bags became an instant hit, with Ziploc signage making its way to the ride, particularly a large display on a trunk near the attraction’s exit.

The themed bags allowed guests to write their names and “departure dates” on the bags, adding a personal touch to their experience at Walt Disney World Resort. While riders rarely got wet, the bags provided peace of mind for keeping belongings secure while on the boat.
The “Safari Sacks” were just as punny as the Jungle Cruise itself. One side of the bags proudly stated that they were “wild animal proof” but warned guests about potential threats from “baboons, butterflies, chimpanzees, cobras, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes, gorillas, hippos, hyenas, impalas, lions, piranhas, pythons, rhinos, tigers, toucans, vultures, water buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, and others.” The Ziploc bags featured these taglines:
“The survival sack that does it all!
Now featuring the exclusive skipper zipper!
Holds everything imaginable, if you only imagine small things!
Mostly backside-of-water resistant!”
Disney recently phased out a similar free offering from Splash Mountain. When Tiana’s Bayou Adventure replaced Splash Mountain in 2024, free bags were removed, and guests were encouraged to purchase a Princess and the Frog (2009) themed wet bag instead. Now, it seems that Jungle Cruise is headed in the same direction.
According to WDWNT, Walt Disney World Resort has stopped providing free “Safari Sacks” to guests. There are currently no details on whether Disney plans to introduce Jungle Cruise-themed wet bags for sale.
Since its inception, Jungle Cruise has undergone various updates. The original version opened at Disneyland Park on July 17, 1955, and proved so popular that it was replicated at Magic Kingdom Park on October 1, 1971. Over time, the attraction evolved from a serious river expedition featuring real animals to the pun-filled adventure that guests enjoy today.
Over the years, Disney has also updated the Jungle Cruise to address cultural sensitivities. As part of its broader inclusion efforts, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort removed offensive depictions of Indigenous people from the attraction from the Adventureland attraction.
