First Look: Trailer (and Release Date!) for Season 2 of ‘Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’

Have you caught up on all of the incredible documentaries on Disney+? If you’ve fallen behind, be sure to add the first season of Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom (2020) to your watchlist. Season 2 debuts in the New Year, and we could not be more excited!

Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, presented by National Geographic, shares an inside look at the care of animals and the natural world across Walt Disney World. In addition to Animal Kingdom, the 10-episode docuseries also showcases Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, The Seas With Nemo & Friends in EPCOT, and Tri-Circle-D Ranch. In total, Disney World is home to more than 300 species and 5,000+ animals, making this series an exciting peek into this little-known aspect of the theme park world.

Following a top-rated Season 1, the second season of the Disney+ series will debut on January 1, 2023. The Disney Parks Blog shared that unlike Season 1, Season 2 will have all episodes released by January 4, 2023, so if you would prefer to binge-watch, you’ll have that option without waiting for each episode to debut.

The first episode arriving on Disney+ on January 1 is also one piece of the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebration, which marks the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company and kicks off on New Year’s Eve.

The Disney Conservation Fund, and some of the organizations that work to support these animals in the wild, will also be featured in the docuseries as part of the company’s larger Disney Planet Possible initiative.

Animals featured in Season 2 of Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom are set to include giraffes, a loggerhead sea turtle, elephants, a pony, okapi, a western lowland gorilla, green moray eel, cheetahs, southern white rhino, and so many more, with all footage filmed over the course of jut five months at Walt Disney World.

Disney’s official description of the series reads:

This 10-episode docu-series showcases the vast array of animals in our care, and our dedicated team of animal experts who manage the around-the-clock needs of the animals, ranging from pulling a big tooth from Lil Joe, the manatee; throwing a birthday party for Galápagos tortoises; releasing sea turtles back into the wild after rehabilitation; hatching baby flamingos and more! From special enrichment programs and nutrition to encouraging animals to participate in their own medical care, our team has established strong bonds with the animals to maintain their health and promote their wellbeing.
