A brand-new meet and greet started yesterday, did you know? Everyone’s favorite purple dragon, Figment, is greeting Guests! This past weekend, Walt Disney World held the fan event Destination D23. Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro presented exciting new experiences coming to Disney Parks at the event. Before he took his post for the new experience, Figment made an appearance at Destination D23, too!
Figment first debuted in the original attraction Journey Into Imagination at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT. “For forty years, the delightful dragon has shown us how exciting it is to explore the world with our five senses – and our imaginations,” Disney writes. Figment has been a beloved character at EPCOT since the theme Park opening in 1982 and is now a part of an experience Guests are going wild over.
“Whether you’re a fan of his mischievous personality or aspire to dream as big as he does, you’ll be able to share it all when you meet him,” Disney teases as the meet and greet commences. Figment inspires creativity and imagination; this new meet and greet is no different.
Guests visiting EPCOT will be able to meet the purple dragon in the Imagination pavilion. The experience premiered for the first time yesterday. Guests can hug, chat, and snap a photo with Figment, as shown in his orange top.

A few fun facts about Figment that make his character even more enchanting are,
Figment first started out as a character for Professor Marvel. “Back in the 1970s, a proposed Disneyland attraction would have featured a panoramic showcase of curiosities and marvels of our world hosted by two brand new characters: Professor Marvel and his impish little sidekick – a yet-to-be-named dragon,” Disney details. Additionally, he was as tar of his own educational series! ” In 1988, Figment was introduced in school classrooms to teach students Language Arts Through Imagination,” Disney says.
