It may still feel like summer, but Halloween has arrived at the Walt Disney World Resort. The first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the season kicks off tonight, August 12, 2022, and fall flavors are debuting all around Walt Disney World.
In the Magic Kingdom, Guests will be excited to see festive seasonal decor return with pumpkins, Jack-o-lanterns, and fall leaves adorning the Park entrance and Main Street, U.S.A.
One favorite piece of the Magic Kingdom’s iconic Halloween decorations seems to be missing from Walt Disney World as some of the Park’s seasonal theming has been changed up for the Resort’s 50th anniversary.
In years past, Mickey pumpkin wreaths were a staple of Halloween decor in Magic Kingdom Park. Guests could spot them along the light poles from the beginning of Main Street, U.S.A., and down through the Hub around the outskirts of Cinderella Castle.
Last year, when the Park prepared to welcome the 50th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort, some of the Mickey pumpkins were replaced with pumpkins designed after Cinderella’s coach. While 2021’s Halloween decor featured a mix of both pumpkins, Guests spending this ‘Spooky Season’ in the Park will only take in Cinderella’s coach pumpkins.
The Mickey pumpkins are beloved by fans, and as far as we know, they will be back for later Halloween seasons. They have been a staple of Halloween at Walt Disney World for a number of years, and Disney had previously shared that the Cinderella coach pumpkins were installed in honor of the 50th anniversary.
As for other Halloween decor around the Magic Kingdom, Jack-o-lanterns can be spotted atop the shops on Main Street, U.S.A., including the Emporium, Confectionery, the Plaza Restaurant, and even Casey’s Corner (which has its very own hot dog pumpkin carving).
In Town Square, Guests can pose for a Halloween photo op with pumpkins creating the perfect frame for a shot down Main Street with Cinderella Castle in the background, and outside of the Park the candy corn-colored bunting adorns the train station alongside additional pumpkins.
We will continue to share updates on the Halloween season at Walt Disney World here on DisneyTips, and wish you a happy Spooky Season ahead of your next trip!
