Missing Halloween Decorations Have Returned to Walt Disney World

Halloween decorations arrived at the Walt Disney World Resort last week, giving Guests the chance to kick off Spooky Season early with pumpkins and other festive decor, particularly around Magic Kingdom Park.

While Halloween certainly arrives early at Walt Disney World, fans who have already visited the Magic Kingdom were disappointed to see one iconic fall decoration missing from this Disney Park: The Mickey pumpkin wreaths that during past Halloween seasons had adorned the light posts on Main Street, U.S.A. and around Cinderella Castle.

With the pumpkins presumably not in the works for the 2022 Halloween season, Guests in the Magic Kingdom today were surprised to see that they have returned!

Disney did not officially announce the change, but Guests in the park like @kmckellar_mmv on Instagram have confirmed that the Mickey pumpkins have indeed returned alongside the Cinderella’s Coach pumpkins that were added to the Park both this year and last Halloween in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Fans did not hide their disappointment over the lack of Mickey pumpkins earlier this week, with many taking to social media to express that they missed this iconic sign of Halloween at Walt Disney World.

Disney has not commented on the return of the Mickey pumpkins, but the company did share photos from the Park without them to announce that Halloween decorations were back in the Magic Kingdom. Unless Disney shares a comment, it seems possible that the change could have been made thanks to a few vocal fans on social media who missed the pumpkins.

The Mickey pumpkin wreaths are only one piece of Walt Disney World’s annual Halloween celebration. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is running select nights in the Magic Kingdom for the first time since 2019, and pumpkin and other fall flavors have already arrived at Joffrey’s coffee locations around Walt Disney World.

Halloween is a magical time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort, and even more so now that this beloved piece of theming has returned to Magic Kingdom Park.
