We’re massive Disney fans. Chances are if you’re reading Disney blogs, you’re right there with us! But, would you name your child “Disney”?
The fairytale films, the memorable Park experiences, and the Disney music that gets stuck in our heads on repeat… Disney has a magical way about it. One mom’s love for Disney led to the decision to name her child “Disney”, but some are mocking her for her decision to have a baby named Disney.
According to TYLA, Jade Jeanes and her husband Joshua of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset struggled to have a child for seven years. When they found out they were pregnant, they did as all new parents do and started thinking about baby names.
They originally planned to call their sweet daughter, “Belle” after the Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast (1991). She even thought of names from Disney’s Little Mermaid (1989).
Thoughts changed and they decided “Disney” would be the perfect name for their little one. Mom Jade said, “After I thought Belle was a good name, I thought, ‘Why not Disney?’
A name like “Disney” is unique for a child, so of course, people started sharing their opinions… sometimes not so positively.

Mom Jade said even the midwives at the hospital thought it was an unusual name for a baby girl, but what really got to her was having other moms mock her on a Facebook page for parents called Mums The Word.
Thankfully, Jade has stood her ground. “Friends and family love the name, and I do too. I just really like the name Disney.” “Disney is quite a personality. Her name suits her and her personality loads.”
Jade continues with, “It’s no one’s business what we decided to call her, and I think that’s the way our generation is going to be honest. The hope is that by the time she goes to school with other children her age, her name will just blend in. Other kids will have unconventional names, we hope. We don’t think she’ll have problems at school because of that.”
Mom Jade talks about Disney, saying “She’s a bundle of joy to be around.” The family plans to carry on with unique names, as they have already said if they have another child and it is a boy, they will call him “Sonic” after the blue cartoon/game hedgehog.
